Skyrim. How to cure vampirism or everything about vampirism in Skyrim

Skyrim is the fifth part of the famous role-playing computer (or, more correctly, multi-platform) game The Elder Scrolls, which received the title of Game of the Year according to the Video Game Award in 2011. The game's features are simply incredible - it even has vampires!

To begin with, you should know that in this game “vampirism” is a disease. You can become infected with it by falling under the influence of the corresponding spell. This disease does not appear immediately and, moreover, is curable. It is worth adding right away that it is very difficult to recover, but, in any case, such an opportunity is present, which cannot but rejoice.

Let's become a vampire

To become a vampire in Skyrim, you need to go through several stages:

  • Find and visit the location of vampires - the cave where they live.
  • Provoke a vampire to use a spell that drains life against your character.
  • Wait 72 in-game hours for signs of illness to begin to appear. Complete transformation will occur after three days.

Note:
Any creature except a werewolf can become a vampire, since “lycanthropy” in this game is the same disease as “vampirism”. First you need to be cured of it, and then continue to transform into a night bloodsucker.

Peculiarities

It is worth knowing that the process of becoming a vampire has some peculiarities. If in a vampire cave you encounter an aggressive opponent who has used a spell against you, then the chance of becoming infected with vampirism is only ten percent (if the vampire does not want to attack you, then he should be destroyed).

In addition, during the first three days after infection, you have the opportunity to be healed using magic - by drinking a medicinal potion or visiting a statue of a warrior that can neutralize the effect of a disease-causing spell. The statue is located in Whiterun in the square and cures all diseases.

After infection with vampirism has occurred and the disease has taken root, so to speak, your character takes on the specific appearance inherent in these creatures.

Note:
A newly converted vampire can retain his human appearance for some time. To do this, he needs to drink the blood of exclusively humanoid creatures.

Lifestyle

In addition to appearance, your character’s lifestyle also changes. You will have to feed it with the blood of living creatures. People and elves are ideal, but if they are not available, you can drink the blood of orcs. The more well-fed a vampire is, the weaker he is. In addition, having lost his human appearance, he attracts the attention of living warriors, who immediately attack him. So, in order to survive, a vampire must exercise secrecy and caution.

Note:
The blood of creatures drunk at night is healthier and tastier.

Curing vampirism

After this time, when the disease has already taken hold, it can be cured by becoming a werewolf. Lycanthropy cures all other diseases in the game.

There is another way to recover from vampirism (when simple methods no longer work and more than three days have passed), we do the following:

  • We move to a city called Falkreath, we go into a tavern with a sign "Dead Man's Drink".
  • Talk to the owner of this tavern named Valga, she will tell you about Falion, a mysterious magician who studies the characteristics of vampires and more. You should now have a quest called Rising At Dawn.
  • Next we need to go to the city of Morthal.
  • Falion is somewhere there, having found him we talk about our problem. Please help with it, does he have any medicine?
  • You will need to talk to him a second time, the magician will give you a task: to get the black soul stone. If you already have one, you're in luck. If you have improved your eloquence skills, then you are also in luck (you can buy a soul stone directly from him for a small amount).
  • If you don’t have a black soul stone (or you have one, but it’s empty), you need to trade with this mage and exchange with him a book of spells that teaches you how to catch souls in stones. We exchange and immediately learn a new spell.
  • The easiest way to catch a soul in a stone is to go to Fort Snowhawk - this is the trap of Morthal.
  • On the spot you will find a necromancer. Use the newly learned spell on him and then kill him. This will give a filled soul stone.
  • You can check that everything is ok. If the black soul stone (great) now has the note “filled”, then everything is fine.
  • We return to Falion. Having found it, we say that we have done everything necessary. In response, we receive instructions from the magician - to be present at dawn in the summoning circle.
  • Now we find a circle (these are large stones placed in a circle in the north-west of the city) and wait there until the morning, for example until four o’clock (use the game lighting as a guide - this is the easiest way).
  • There is a small problem that can arise due to the presence of crabs that scurry around near the summoning circle. Just kill them all, otherwise Falion may get scared and run away.
  • After this is done, we see the magician arrive and talk to him. The rest is a matter of technique. At the end of the short ritual, you are no longer a vampire.

Note:
Since vampirism is a curable disease, you can get sick with it many times. No character becomes immune to this disease, and treatment occurs in the standard way.

Vampires are powerful night creatures with specific abilities and interesting gaming features, which every Skyrim fan should definitely try to appreciate its versatility and diversity.

How to become a vampire

Becoming a vampire is quite simple, you just need to find a large and strong group of vampires and fight with them for a long time (and sometimes just be near them and accidentally fall under their spells). However, it is still not a fact that you will contract vampirism. Sometimes it seems that vampirism is transmitted by airborne droplets or through touch. The details of the process are not yet clear, there are only theories. There is also a theory that the distance at which you fight vampires depends on the possibility of contracting vampirism: the closer the vampire, the greater the chance of becoming infected. After the fight with vampires, you need to go to the magic menu and see if you have any negative active effects (they are written in red). If you have a disease that portends vampirism, then getting rid of it is easier than catching it: a jar of potion for curing diseases or any altar in any temple (every altar, be it Talos or Mary, is cured of all diseases). If you have not considered it necessary to look at your active effects, then you can still find out about impending vampirism if you are careful. On the first night after infection, the screen will turn red for a second and in the upper left corner there will be an inscription “it’s getting dark, you feel thirsty,” and with dawn the screen will also turn red for a moment and there will be an inscription “it’s dawning, you feel weak.” Before the vampire blood awakens, making you a full-fledged vampire, you will have 48 hours after infection, then the process cannot be reversed by ordinary means. There is more than enough time to heal.

Life as a Vampire: Advantages, Disadvantages and Hunger

The life of a vampire cannot be called easy, but one cannot help but say that it adds a certain charm to the gameplay. In the light of the sun, from about 5 am to 9 pm, not taking into account rooms and caves, vampire blood boils in the sun: mana, hit points and stamina are not restored naturally. This negative effect can be ignored by one of the guardian stones, or enchanted items. Another of the main disadvantages of vampirism is vulnerability to fire, but this effect can also be ignored using an enchanted item. There are also advantages: resistance to cold, a bonus to illusion and stealth magic (25% each), as well as 100% immunity to poisons and diseases. But since the vampire is not only a nocturnal creature, but also a blood-sucking creature, he has a need for blood. The vampire has hunger or thirst, with the increase of which the vampire gains new spells (which are discussed below), as well as increased resistance to cold and vulnerability to fire. There are 4 stages of hunger:

1. Mild hunger well-fed state of the vampire.

Effects 25% resistance to cold and vulnerability to fire.

Spells:

  • Drain Life Energy This spell can be called effective if you have developed destruction magic and works well against groups of enemies in front of you. The spell drains life from enemies and transfers it to the vampire, causing damage to the enemy while healing the vampire. The spell has a fairly wide range, which is why it has a kind of mass character. If there is 1 enemy in front of you, then by default you absorb 3 units from him. life per second, but if there are 3 enemies in front of you, then you absorb the lives of three at the same time, causing damage to them, and the absorbed life units are summed up in proportion to the number of enemies. Very convenient in narrow spaces. Basically the same as flame with frostbite, only the angle is a little wider. IMPORTANT! Only affects the living.
  • Night vision.

2. Average hunger The vampire's strength increases slightly.

Effects resistance to cold and vulnerability to fire increases to 50%.

Spells:

  • “Vampire Charm” the ability to calm any enemy for a short time once a day.

3. Extreme hunger The vampire’s strength increases again.

Effects resistance to cold and vulnerability to fire increases to 75%.

Spells:

  • Reviving a corpse.

4. A hungry vampire. The strongest and most vulnerable state of a vampire. A hungry vampire will be considered an enemy by all civilians without exception. Such a vampire is like a werewolf turned into a werewolf in the middle of the city.

Effects resistance to cold and vulnerability to fire are 100%.

Spells:

  • Cover of Shadow: Once a day for 3 minutes, the vampire becomes invisible. IMPORTANT! You can't become invisible when people are looking at you.

The vampire's hunger increases once a day, i.e. 4 days separate you from the 1st to the 4th stage of fasting. It’s quite easy to take a little time to eat every three days by sneaking into someone’s house late at night and having dinner: it’s better to go to a farm, there will be less noise if something goes wrong. For one thing you can rob a sleeping person, rummage through his chests, I personally have never denied myself this.

How to cure vampirism

You can be cured of vampirism by following a quest that can be taken in any tavern. In order to take the quest you Not must be a starving vampire, otherwise everyone will attack you.

  • Approach the tavern innkeeper and ask for rumors until they tell you about a wizard in Morthal who studies vampires, zombies and other evil spirits
  • You go to him and take on the task of filling the black soul stone, which you buy from him. To do this, you will need the “soul capture” spell, which you can buy from him or have a weapon enchanted and charged with “soul capture”
  • Go to any cluster of ill-wishers, where you use “soul capture” on a person and then kill him. Or you can kill the first person you meet, whichever is more convenient for you
  • Go back to the sorcerer in Morthal, he makes an appointment for you at dawn (2-4 am) at the appointed place. The place in the swamps is a magic circle. After the ritual you are no longer a vampire, enjoy the gentle sun

(Note: There may be a bug. From the beginning it is better to kill all the crabs in the area, otherwise he will not come to the appointed place, since they will interfere with him. If he still does not come, then wait for the next dawn.)

Bottom line

Unlike lycanthropy, vampirism greatly affects the player's daily life. If a werewolf simply cannot get enough sleep, and after death sits on a chain with the Daedric Prince Hircine, then the vampire has to reconsider his battle tactics in the light of the sun and constantly monitor his hunger. Vampiriz does not allow you to relax and constantly reminds you of yourself. But at the same time it provides many advantages, which, if used skillfully, can help. In simple life, a werewolf does not change either “before” or “after”. It would be much more interesting and fun if once a week the player randomly turned into a werewolf and had to wander through the forest. But you can even forget that you are a werewolf, I forgot once, and a beast would make my task much easier. Vampirism is for those who are not looking for easy ways in the game, who lack extreme sports, for those who create themselves an assassin or a black magician.

“Vampires are no longer the same” summary from Diablo

Vampires are no longer the lords of the night, with a huge number of bonuses, as they were in Morrowind. Now this is some kind of pitiful semblance, without great strength, and without much damage in the sun (in Morrowind, a weak vampire was simply burned in seconds in the sun). It’s not at all clear what the developers were thinking about when adding vulnerability to fire - fire spells on the “master” difficulty simply kill you (kill you in one hit).

In general, I recommend to all fans of the vampire theme (and myself too) to wait for normal mods that will make vampires really strong at night, and with huge penalties (or better yet, burning health) in the sun.

Surely many people wanted to know where to find a vampire in Skyrim, because most players simply cannot meet them during the game, so now you can find out where they live, what their special skills are, and whether it’s worth becoming one of the vampires!

Vampires in Skyrim are an intelligent race whose representatives fell victim to " Sanguinare Vampiris" According to legend, the father of vampires is the Daedric prince Molag Bal. Pure-blooded vampires are those few who received the gift of vampirism personally from him. In the Dawnguard add-on, which is dedicated to vampires, the player will meet the Volkihar clan, in which he will be able to personally meet the chosen ones Molag Bal vampires and even become one of them by drinking the blood of a vampire lord.

Types of Vampires

Vampires in Skyrim can be roughly divided into two categories: those found in the original game and those that appear with the expansion.

In the standard world of the fifth part of the scrolls, vampires are aggressive mobs that can infect you with Sanguinare Vampiris. All of them are magicians who have a certain level of skill in using one-handed weapons.

Many unique vampires appear in the DLC - with their own stories, voice acting, and illustrations. In addition to standard skills, these children of the night can offer the player to acquire a second form - a vampire lord. This a gift like lycanthropy and replaces him if the player has already become a werewolf. The Vampire Lord is a long-eared, winged monster with strong arms, long claws and corpse-colored skin. This gift also improves along the skill tree, like lycanthropy. Initially, the vampire lord uses “vampire drain”, which literally takes away the life energy of opponents, and “raise the dead” - a skill that creates the living dead.

  1. In the vastness of Skyrim there are many places where a player can meet a vampire. For example, in the northeast of Morthal there is a cave " Movart's Lair" The player gets there at the end of the quest “Eternal Peace”, which is taken in Morthal from the guards or the innkeeper.
  2. Traveling west from Whiterun, passing the Sleepy Tree Camp, you can stumble upon Broken Fang Cave. There is a vampire lair in this location. In addition, this place is a good point for farming vampire ashes. Mobs respawn here every ten in-game days.
  3. IN half moon sawmill, which is located north of Falkreath, is home to a pair of vampire lumberjacks. The player will be sent here on quests of the Dark Brotherhood.
  4. In the south of Windhelm, not far from Gallows Rock, there is a location " Pond of Mary" In this place there is a boat, near which there is a hatch leading to the dungeon - Mary's Lair. This is where vampires live.

The most fun way to meet vampires in the world of Skyrim is by completing the Dawnguard DLC. You can start completing quests in this storyline at level 10. You need to talk to the innkeepers about the rumors, or meet Dawnguard (vampire fighters) on the street. They will tell you where to look for Fort Guardians. After this, the main plot begins.

Remember that fighting vampires at low levels is quite difficult. It's best not to meet them until you reach at least level eight. Now you know how and where to find a vampire in Skyrim, if you still have questions, write them below in the comments. Have a nice game!

The Vampire Lord is the highest and extremely rare type of vampire in the game Skyrim. By transforming from an ordinary person into a vampire, the hero receives enormous advantages in strength, endurance and vitality. Also, a special quality of the vampire lord is his terrible and menacing appearance, which is why opponents fighting him instantly fall into horror. Fortunately, the game offers the opportunity to become a vampire lord yourself, but not everyone knows how to do this. In this article we will tell you how to become a vampire lord in Skyrim, and what pros and cons this ability has.

A clear example of the epicness and power of the vampire lord

How to become a vampire lord

So, first of all, you need to download the official DLC called Dawnguard. Usually, when installing Skyrim, this mod is included in the kit, so it’s more likely that you already have it. After installing the mod, go into the game and gain level 10. After this, you need to find one of the members of the Dawn Guardians and join this organization. Then everything is quite simple - in one of the main quests of the Dawnguard you will wake up Serana, the daughter of the main vampire lord from the Volkihar clan named Harkon, from a deep sleep. After taking Serana to Castle Volkihar, Lord Harkon will thank you and invite you to join his family. If you agree, you will be rewarded with the ability to become a vampire lord, but then the Dawnguard will become your sworn enemies.

How to transform into a vampire lord

Immediately after agreeing to become a vampire lord, you will be sent to a short “training” where you will be given all the useful information about how to use this ability and what it gives. But if you somehow miraculously missed the training, here are brief instructions:

  1. Click on the button "Tab" and select "Magic".
  2. Find the transformation spell into "Lord Vampire"(Vampire Lord) and select it.
  3. Close the Magic section and while playing, click on the button "Z". Next, the transformation into a vampire lord will begin, it will take a few seconds.

Vampire Lord Features

Just like with werewolves, vampire lords have some disadvantages, and the advantages of which will be discussed below.

Vampire Lord Benefits:

  1. A large development tree that can be developed by sucking blood from the inhabitants of Skyrim.
  2. The power of a vampire lord is comparable to that of an entire squad of legionnaires or storm brothers.
  3. The vampire lord's running speed is only slightly inferior to that of a horse.
  4. Night vision.
  5. The ability to fly over land, this ability can also be used on water.
  6. You can transform into a vampire lord an unlimited number of times per day.

Lord Vampire - Third Person View

Vampire Lord Disadvantages:

  1. All the inhabitants of Skyrim will attack when you are transformed into a vampire lord.
  2. You cannot use magic, weapons, inventory, fast travel, or dialogue while being a vampire lord.
  3. You will not be able to swim or dive into water at all until you transform into your original form.
  4. The Guardians of the Dawn will hunt you, and will periodically make ambushes and surprise attacks.
  5. Thus, you will go over to the dark side, and the interesting quest line from the Dawnguard will not be available to you.

Summing up

Now you know how to become a vampire lord in Skyrim, and what this ability will entail. Of course, it's up to you to decide whether to become a vampire lord or not, but know that there will be no turning back. Good luck!

Skyrim is uneasy. An ancient evil awakens among the mountains: vampires occupy caves and prepare to fulfill a terrible prophecy. But standing in their way were the valiant warriors of the Dawn Guard, an organization that fights bloodsuckers throughout Tamriel. Whose side will you side with - the vampires or the vampire hunters? In any case, you will need this guide with descriptions of quests - both main and side.

Dawnguard

The main quest of the Dawnguard add-on begins no earlier than the hero reaches level 10. It begins with rumors exchanged between the guards. After hearing talk of a restored Dawnguard Fort, you can head straight there to talk to the vampire hunters.

Another option is also possible - an envoy of the Dawn Guard, an orc named Fool, will approach you on the street and offer to join the organization. You can ask him about the Dawn Guard.

The fortress we need is located southeast of Riften. To get to it, you need to find a passage in the rock through the Dayspring Canyon, and get to an isolated section of the map. Talk to the newcomer named Agmer and the guard Kelaan. If you want, shoot with a crossbow at old tree stumps with the Fool. After that, go to the fortress.

As often happens in Skyrim, you will witness a conversation. The head of the Dawn Watch, Isran, discusses the sad situation with Tolan, a priest of the Order of the Vigilants. Vampires, vampires everywhere!

When the interlocutors deign to pay attention to us, they will give us the first task: to meet with the priest Tolan in the Dim Tomb and find out what happened to the Vigilant priests who explored it. Before leaving, you can clean out the fortress - we have permission for this.

If you wanted to play as vampires, don’t worry, and feel free to take on the task - the moment to choose a side will come only after two quests. Immediately after you are sent to the cave, vampires will randomly attack the towns.

Awakening

The cave we need - the Dim Tomb - is located east of Morthal, north of the Lord's stone. Tolan is also here, but for some reason he will not be able to take part in clearing the cave.

Inside you will find cool vampires (their conversations can be overheard), skeletons, draugr, spiders and new enemies - death hounds, a valuable source of dog meat. At the end of the path in the large hall, you will witness the death of the Vigilant priest at the hands of vampires.

On a round stone table with two rows of arches, you have to solve a small puzzle: first press the button in the center, and then, by pushing each of the five stone braziers towards or away from the center, make them all light up with a purple flame.

Touch the stone monolith and meet Serana - a girl with an Ancient Scroll on her back. She's a vampire. Friendly vampire.

Bloodline

Serana will ask the hero to take her home. First you need to get out of the cave. This will not be so easy to do: first, revived stone gargoyles will attack us, and then the draugr and their leader, sitting on a throne in a vast hall.

Don't forget to read the new scream on the wall, which deprives the enemy of strength, mana, and health.

Leaving the cave, you will go to the northwestern edge of Skyrim, where, not far from the Northern Watch Fortress, there is a boat on the shore. She will help Serana and me get to the Volkihar fortress.

Before you enter the fortress, know that there will be a choice between vampires and vampire hunters. There is no way to defer your choice, so save your game for replay.

Serana's father, the vampire lord Harkon, will meet us at the fortress. He will thank the hero for saving his daughter with an ancient scroll, complain about his wife’s betrayal and offer a reward - turning into a vampire.

  • If the hero refuses, we will be allowed to leave - but only this time.
  • If the hero is already a vampire, Harkon's bite will give us the powers of a vampire lord.
  • If the hero is a werewolf and chooses to become a vampire, lycanthropy will be cured in the process.

One way or another, from this moment the plot bifurcates. But playing as the Dawn Guard and playing as vampires is not very different. In both cases the companion is the same, the main enemy is the same, and the plot follows the same course. Therefore, in the description of each quest, we will first talk about how it is completed as an ordinary mortal, and then as a night bloodsucker. The next two, however, are unique to each group.

A New Order

Dawnguard quest (not available when playing as vampires)

So, you rejected the path of vampires, and were expelled from the castle. Isran will certainly want to know what happened. After Harkon, angry at the refusal, expels us from the castle, return to the Dawnguard Castle. Help your comrades repel the vampire attack and tell Isran everything that happened.

To the question of his comrades: “So, why didn’t you kill the vampire and take away the Ancient Scroll?” finding a convincing answer will be difficult. Because he doesn't exist. You'll have to make unconvincing excuses.

After some thought, the head of the Dawn Guard will invite us to enlist the help of a pair of outstanding fighters - the Breton Saryn Gerard and the Nord Ganmar.

You will find Nord near the Honey Cave. He is hunting a bear and at first he won’t even hear about helping Isran. Two things will help him change his mind: the mention of vampires and help in the battle with the brown bear that has occupied the cave.

Saryn will be found in the western regions of Skyrim, near the Dragon's Tooth Crater. Tell Sarin about vampires and the Elder Scroll. The girl also needs help. The crabs stole her Dwemer gyroscope. We are required to either find it in a bag on the river bank downstream, bring a new unit, or use the persuasion skill.

Before allowing the hero to the next quest, Isran will carefully check him and his two new companions for vampirism.

The Bloodstone Chalice

Vampire Quest (not available when playing as the Dawnguard)

So, you decided to take the path of vampires, and were kindly bitten on the neck by Harkon. The hero will wake up in the cathedral. It's time to explore new possibilities.

Be a winged vampire

The first and most important skill of a vampire is to transform into a cool winged beast at will. The good news: in the process you can fight with your claws or cast magic with both paws: draw out life force, revive the dead. You can also hover above the ground and leap forward, dispersing into a flock of bats.

The bad news is that you can't do anything else while in vampire (or werewolf) form. In particular, you cannot pick up loot, use first aid kits, use weapons, ordinary magic, or even look at the world from the first person.

Like ordinary bloodsuckers of Skyrim, our vampirism intensifies with every hungry day. Along with it, abilities increase, but so does the loss of strength from the sun, vulnerability to fire and general ugliness.

Along with Harkon's vampirism, the hero receives a branch of vampire abilities. You can invest in them, making money by drawing out life or biting. Let's list the abilities:

  • Power of the Grave: Increase in health, stamina and mana by 50 points. Basic perk.
  • Detect All Creatures: Allows you to detect all enemies, regardless of whether they are alive, dead or even robots. Very helpful.
  • Mist Form: The most useful skill among vampires is going into the “fog form” with accompanying regeneration. Saves in any, even the most difficult situation.
  • Supernatural Reflexes: Time slowdown, Slo-mo style. Very good.
  • Unearthly Will: Reduces the mana cost of vampire spells.
  • Blood Healing: Fully restores health after an enemy is bitten to death. Not a bad skill, but with it you need to have time to bite (power attack) an enemy who is on the verge of death.
  • Poison Talong (Poison Claws): Additional 20 points of claw strike damage. Not very useful, especially for those who prefer magic.
  • Night Cloak: A flock of bats attacks nearby enemies.
  • Vampiric Grip: Jedi style skill - pulls enemies towards the character and strangles them.
  • Summon Gargoyle: A gargoyle comes to the rescue. For those who love gargoyles.
  • Corpse Curse: Explosion that paralyzes enemies. Overall, useful.

After conducting an educational program, Harkon will send us on a test mission. We will get it from a vampire named Garan Mareti, telling him the code word: “It’s time.”

Garan, in turn, wants us to “fill” a certain Bloody Cup. This must be done in the Red Water Cave near the source from which blood flows. Having filled the cup, the hero will have to add the blood of a strong vampire.

There is nothing to do - we go to the cave. It is successfully disguised as a skooma den in the basement of the house. The real cave begins behind a poorly locked door.

Mini-insert: you can try to drink skooma - then the hero will lose consciousness and wake up in the cave.

Lower the bridge by pulling the lever. At the dead end, pull the chain in the wall. Once in the large hall, go around the trap in the floor. The next door leads to the tombs, and it also needs to be opened by pulling the chain - it is opposite, behind the “window” in the stone wall.

In the room with the alchemical laboratory, open the door to the right of the entrance with caution - a trap will be triggered. In the next large hall, be sure to search the bodies for the key. It will allow you to open the next door without fussing with master keys.

There is a bloody spring behind the door. Fill the cup. Two vampires will come to the noise - Salonia and Stalf. They discuss how to arrange an accident for our hero. We'll have to kill them. At the same time, let's add vampire blood to the bowl.

Return to Garan Marethi and then to Lord Harkon. The quest is completed.
