Locations to explore:

  • National Guard training site
  • River Beach Satellite Dish
  • Reconnaissance bunker Teta

Three years ago, a Brotherhood of Steel detachment was sent to the Commonwealth for reconnaissance. They never got in touch. They were officially declared missing and presumed dead. There are several ways to start the quest “The Lost Patrol”:

  • You accidentally stumbled upon one of the members of the reconnaissance team, without knowing anything about this quest. Report this to Paladin Dans or Captain Kels, and the quest will be activated.
  • You have fully completed one of the Brotherhood of Steel recurring quests, either "Cleansing the Commonwealth" from Knight Reese, or "The Quartermester" from Scriptor Heylin. Talk to Paladin Dance or Captain Kelce to receive the current quest.
  • You have completed the Brotherhood of Steel quest "No Mercy". Talk to Captain Kelce to receive this quest.
  • You discovered a distress signal while traveling with a Danse paladin as your companion. He himself will want to tell you about the missing patrol, and the current quest will be activated.

If you have not yet met the Brotherhood of Steel faction (or have taken the opposing side), then you can still complete this quest. It’s just that if you decide to join them later, you can talk to Paladin Dance or Captain Kels about what you discovered and receive your reward.

Talk to Paladin Dance/Report your discovery to the Brotherhood of Steel

For the first three ways to start the quest you will need to talk to paladin Dans or captain Kels, either that you have discovered something, or simply receive a task - to find the missing patrol.

Find a reconnaissance group

Now your task is to find out what happened to the reconnaissance group. Subsequent searches can generally be conducted in any order. But we will go as Paladin Dans, our companion, suggests. The landing site was in the hills near Malden. Go there to search the area and determine where to go next.

Find the source of the call for help

When you reach the Malden Hills, located north of Boston, near High school Maldena and Med-Tek Research, your Pip-Boy's radio will pick up a Distress Signal. Tune your radio to this signal to use the power level to find the location of the source. Beware of the super mutants that live in this area.

The signal led you to the site of the Brotherhood of Steel battle, to a destroyed building south of Med-Tech Research. There you will find the dead knight Warham. After searching it, you will find a holotape from the battlefield. Grab his tokens too, they may be useful to you.

Listen to a holographic recording from the battle site

Insert the found holotape into your Pip-Boy. From it you will learn about the last minutes of Wareham, as well as the place where the remnants of the detachment went. This is an old military base.

Tour the National Guard training site

The National Guard training site is located southeast of the Brotherhood of Steel battle site, where we discovered the first member of the recon team.

When you get to the place, turn on your full attention. Destroy the turret on the building right in front of the entrance without stepping on the mine. The location is infested with wild ghouls, so be prepared for this. Although you may have already been here in search of a military electrical circuit for a molecular emitter during the story quest “Molecular Level”.

Enter the National Guard Recruiting Center and on the left you will find a barracks terminal (medium level). With its help you can open the door and get into the National Guard barracks. But the signal for help leads you further, go past the terminal and turn into the corner room on the right. There you will find the deceased knight Estlin, like the previous one, take the holotape and tokens from her.

If you are interested in fully exploring the location and discovering all its hiding places, then do not rush to leave. Go up to the second floor of the building. There, in the office opposite the stairs, in the desk, you will find the National Guard officer's password, which you will need in the future.

In the next room in the far corner you will see a safe (lock level - medium) with ammunition and weapons.

We go downstairs and go through the door to which you opened access with the terminal, behind it we kill the ghouls and enter the National Guard barracks. Go up to the second floor, in the office on the left there is an arsenal control terminal, you can access it using the National Guard officer password found earlier and open the door to the armory located outside.

In the barracks room, which is located straight and to the right from the stairs, you will find a descent to the first floor. There are ammo in green boxes near the beds, both on the first and second floors.

Clue

In the cafeteria, located on the first floor of the National Guard barracks, on one of the tables you will find "Guide to covert operations USA" issue 3. It will unlock a magazine perk, which will make you more difficult to detect in stealth mode. All magazine perks can be viewed.

Also on the ground floor is access to the National Guard training area, which is where we need to be. Use the terminal to open the door. No hacking of the terminal is required. On the street to the left will be a National Guard armory. There is a turret on the roof of the arsenal building - be careful.

On the territory of the National Guard training site, there is a Security Robot walking around, which will fire at you like a machine gun if you catch its eye. Be careful.

Listen to the holographic recording of Knight Estlin

Listen to the holotape of Knight Estlin. In it, she reports that the remnants of the reconnaissance group headed to the satellite dish on the coast. So, we continue to follow the trail of corpses of the valiant fighters of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Inspect the satellite station

The River Beach satellite dish is located east of the National Guard training site and north of Prydwen. Beware of super mutants, there are a lot of them here, and there is practically nowhere to hide.

On the territory of the location there are five satellite towers and a green metal structure that looks like vans. In this building you will find a first aid kit and ammunition with weapons in a bag and a drawer. As for satellite towers, then refer to the screenshot of the “River Beach Satellite Dish” location located above.

So, again we set our radio to “Distress Signal”, as in the two previous cases, and set out to search. You will find another deceased member of the Brotherhood of Steel reconnaissance team, scriptor Faris, on the far right tower, in a small wooden building. He, like the others, still has a holotape. And don't forget about the Brotherhood of Steel tokens. Next to him you will find a box of ammunition and a first aid kit.

At the top of the front right satellite tower there is an ammo box and super mutant armor waiting for you.

On top of the one in the middle without a satellite dish, you will find an ammo box (castle level is easy).

Climbing up the far left satellite tower, you will find a frame power armor without any spare parts and a chest with ammunition and weapons. And on the last (front left tower) there is nothing.

Listen to the holographic recording of scriptor Faris

Listen to the holotape of scriptor Faris, as it will probably tell you where to look next. Of the entire squad, only the paladin remained. However, it is not yet known whether he is alive or also died. According to the recording, Paladin Brandis went north to the bunker. Well, it's worth checking it out.

Inspect the bunker

Theta Recon Bunker is located far to the northwest of the River Beach Satellite Dish and Prydwen, on the border of the map. Enter the access code obtained from the holotape into the terminal and open the door. Inside you will find the paladin Brandis, absolutely alive, but slightly deranged.

Talk to Paladin Brandis

Paladin Brandis is not himself, as he spent 3 years alone, and takes everyone for enemies.

So, you have several options to solve this problem:

  • Call him by name and say that you have become part of the Brotherhood, thus leaving the current situation peacefully.
  • Try to convince him using your charisma.

Charisma

You can tell Paladin Brandis that you only came to talk (persuasion level is easy). If the persuasion works, the conflict will end peacefully, if not, then you can kill him.

You can send him so that he does not get into trouble (the level of conviction is complex). The situation is the same: if it works - peace, if it doesn’t work - war.

If the clash with the paladin Brandis ends in bloodshed, then take it from him unique weapon « Special survival kit"after you kill him.

Help: Special survival kit

Damage: 52 (energy)

Ammunition: Nuclear batteries

Rate of fire: 44

Range: 203

Accuracy: 30

Weight: 6,4

Price: 360

Installed:

  • Photon exciter
  • Sniper barrel
  • Tactical grip
  • Collimator sight
  • Beam splitter

Peculiarity: The lower your health, the greater the damage.

If you manage to calm him down, you can end the conversation as you wish. Tell him about his squad and give them their tags if you wish. This will touch him.

Charisma

Try to test your persuasion skills and try to persuade him to return to the Brotherhood of Steel (persuasion level - easy, medium, hard).

In Tet's intelligence bunker you will find a nuclear unit for power armor in the generator, a first aid kit, food, a chest and a box with ammunition and weapons.

Meet Paladin Dance at the entrance

Exit the bunker and meet with Paladin Dance, if he was your companion in this task. He wants to talk about Brandeis.

Talk to Paladin Dance

Dance seems upset. Moreover, I am sure that the paladin Brandis has become so wild in three years that he is unlikely to become the same. If you had to kill Brandis, then Dance will be angry. In any case, the task is completed, and it’s time to report information on the missing patrol to Captain Kelce.

Report to Captain Kelce/Talk to Paladin Dance

If you haven't completed the first part yet story quest, that is, you have not completed the “Reunion” quest, then return to the Cambridge police station for a reward from Paladin Dance.

Reward: 200 caps

If you have already moved on to the second part of the plot, that is, you have started or completed the quest “Dangerous Thoughts,” then return to Prydwen and receive a reward from Captain Kels.

In this side quest from the Brotherhood of Steel you will need to find all the members of the missing patrol, which ended up in the Boston wasteland before everyone else. You need to find three holotapes and listen to them to understand what happened.

Where to get it

You can receive the task in three ways:

  • In the area of the paladin Dans even before the arrival of Prydwen;
  • On Prydwen, with Captain Kells;
  • Accidentally stumbling upon one of three signals while traveling.

Here you can also read about the task to search and destroy the paladin Danse, which is issued by Elder Maxson, called.

Walkthrough

The first knight of the Brotherhood is located near the Med-Tek Research location, on the battlefield. In all cases, you need to turn on the radio to find the source of the signal. Dans will advise you to search this place from the very beginning.

Important! Don't forget to pick up tokens if you want to persuade the Paladin and get a special rifle.

You need to look for the second knight at the National Guard Training Grounds location inside the building, on the first floor. Keep in mind that local ghouls can make the task very difficult, given the rather strong Luminous, which will emit radiation pulses and revive already killed brothers.

You need to look for the third member of the squad, the scriptor, at the Revere Beach Satellite Antenna location - you are interested in a hut on one of these same antennas. It is important to take into account that there are a lot of super mutants here, among whom there may be opponents with rocket launchers and mini-nuclear charges in their hands, so it is best to wear power armor and stock up on supplies.

After this, you will have a clear goal - the Intelligence Bunker, where Paladin Brandis will be waiting for you - he will need to tell you about the fate of the squad. If you show him the fighters' tokens and tell him about their fate, you can take whatever you want from the shelter.

You can also try to persuade the Paladin to return to the Brotherhood, but for this you need to have high level Charisma, since you will need to resort to persuasion three times.

Reward

If everything worked out, you convinced Brandis and took the task from Dans, then you will be given the “Special Survival Kit” laser rifle, and if you took the task from Kells, you will receive the breastplate of the Brotherhood’s combat armor.

You also receive a minimum of 350 experience - the experience reward depends on the number of intelligence increases.

A lost wasteland patrol can easily be located at the National Guard Training Site. The task is taken automatically and completed in a couple of stages.

In the footsteps of a cruel enemy

“The Lost Patrol” in Fallout 4 is a minor quest chain given by Paladin Dance at the Cambridge Police Station, or received by the Survivor, the main character, completely by chance, when crossing an as yet unexplored area on the outskirts of Boston (in adjacent locations).
The goal is to find important information, left near the participants of three Brotherhood of Steel patrols. When completing a task, it is better to listen to the holographic recordings - there is a lot of valuable and quite interesting information.

The passage of the "Lost Patrol" in Fallout 4 is divided into stages:
1. Knight Warham - leader of the first lost expedition. The search point is approximately marked on the map; then you will have to move by touch, using an emergency pulsator.
2. Knight Estlin is a participant in the next patrol. The actions are the same, but there are noticeably more opponents.
3. Scriptor Faris - the tracks lead to the Revere Beach Satellite Antenna, guarded by super mutants. The location is difficult, there are many enemies, and they are well armed (including rocket launchers). Power armor is perfect for passing through, but you can also move stealthily.
4. After collecting information, the marker will move and point to the Tet Reconnaissance Bunker. To complete the “Lost Patrol” quest in Fallout 4, you must wear a costume that increases your speech. First, you should talk about the expeditions and attach tokens, and only then try to convince the character, Paladin Brandis, to return to duty as part of the Brotherhood of Steel. If you pass the check (three pieces with maximum eloquence), you can earn valuable items.

Is the Lost Patrol causing a bug in Fallout 4?
- The first mistake is related to submitting the assignment. For example, if Paladin Dance is already the main character’s partner, then the required line simply does not arise under any circumstances. How to pass the “Lost Patrol” quest in Fallout 4 in such a critical situation? It's worth contacting Captain Kells! And gain experience and items.
- Another mistake - a disassembled pulsator. The marker on the map will no longer be displayed. The solution is not to disassemble important items for parts before completing the quest!

And finally, the “Lost Patrol” in Fallout 4 gives out several interesting items:
1. 350 Experience Points.
2. Valuable chest armor of the Brotherhood of Steel battle vestment. Issued by Captain Kells if paladin Danse fails to complete the quest.
3. Laser rifle with modified damage indicators. Transmitted to the main character before the appearance of the Prydwen ship.
