There is a low-intensity war going on in Skyrim. The Legion of the Empire wants to increase its influence and force the Nords to respect the laws of the empire, which is often Skyrim, while the Stormcloaks fight for the independence of their lands.

Important: there is no clear good or bad side. Each has both good things and its own “skeletons in the closet”.

How to join the imperial army?

Go to Solitude and find the "Gloomy Castle" building there (which doesn't look like a castle at all), and talk to Legate Rikke there, she will give you the introductory task.


Joining the Legion

The essence of the task: to clear the Ford from bandits.

The task is simple: come to the Ford marked on the map and kill all the bandits there. After which we return to Rikka and say the oath. All that remains is to go to the blacksmith and get imperial armor. Welcome to the Imperial Legion.

Rikke asked us to help her find the Jagged Crown. Our path lies in the ancient burial place of the Nords called Korvanyud:



Having arrived at the right place, we learn that the Storm Brothers are already inside and we will have to fight our way through. Having reached the passage, killing all the Stormcloaks along the way, we will be asked to find a workaround, because... Rikke is sure that there is a trap ahead of us. The bypass is located directly above us, you can get to it using the stairs.

Note: By taking the bypass route, you can drop a jug on enemies, which will ignite the oil under the Stormcloaks' feet, hastening their death. This can be done with an arrow or a spell.

Having killed all the enemies, we go to the next burial level. And almost at the very beginning of the level we will encounter a door, to open which we need a claw; it lies next to the door. Answer to the puzzle:



Next we come to a room with bars. And we are again asked to find a way to open it. You need to climb the stairs and cross to the other side on the platform. There will be a handle that you need to pull. Once the grate opens, four Draugr will emerge from the coffins.

Note: After climbing the stairs, find the dagger that is lying on the tile, pick up the dagger and a secret passage will open. When you go to the chest, be careful; interacting with it will activate a trap.

Message for Whiterun

The essence of the task: You need to take a letter from Thulium to the Earl of Whiterun, and then give the ax to Ulfric.

After we have brought the Jagged Crown, we will be sent to take a message to the Jarl of Whiterun.

Note: If you have not completed the main quest yet, you will first have to go into the dungeon and/or kill the dragon.

The Jarl of Whiterun asks us to take the ax to Ulfric (which means war). Having brought the ax, we learn that Ulfric is going to storm Whiterun, we need to warn the jarl. When we arrive, we find out that the battle has already begun.

Battle of Whiterun

Quentius Scipius sends us to the front line under the command of Legate Rikke. When we approach Rikka, she will give an inspiring speech and send us off to fight. The goal is simply to kill the Stormcloaks. Their number is measured as a percentage, with each rebel corpse this number drops, you need to bring it to zero. Also, an additional task will be to hold positions: first we must defend the barricades, preventing the enemy from breaking through them. If the protective fences are destroyed, the squad will retreat a little, and the goal will be to hold the drawbridge. It is not necessary to do this; the main task is to kill opponents.

Note: If you have a companion, he will remain in the city and will not go into battle with you.

Having killed all opponents, we can go to the city gates and listen to the earl’s speech, or we can immediately go to Tulius. Returning to Tullius, we will receive a good blade and a new title Questor.


Unification of Skyrim

This task combines several others, the common goal of which is the complete reconquest of Skyrim. This quest is connected to the main story quest "Time Without End", during which it is necessary to conduct peace negotiations between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion. Depending on the decision you make, the factions will exchange cities and, accordingly, take control of a new possession. If you have already completed this task, then you need to capture the Reach, and if not, the Rift.

Regain control of White Beach

Gives: General Tullius

Note: If Dawnstar was handed over to the Imperials during the quest "Time Without End", this quest will be skipped.

Thulius will send us to a camp on the White Coast with the Imperials. We are again under the command of Legate Rikke. She wants us to feed misinformation to the Stormcloaks, but to do this we must first find the original. Rebels who have documents most often stay in two taverns, one located in Windhelm, and the second outside the cities. The second option is the best. We go to the tavern and convince the owner to help us.



Note: The easiest way to persuade the innkeeper is to say that the rebels are in danger.

Having learned from the tavern owner the route of the messenger, we can easily track him. All that remains is to pick up the package. Having collected the package, we return to the legate. The order states that Fort Dunstad needs help. The legate will falsify the document, thereby depriving the fort of support and misinforming the Dawnstar commander. Our goal is to take the fake documents to the rebel commander in Dawnstar. Frokmar the Torn Banner will easily believe that we had to change clothes so that the “enemies” would not notice us and will accept the forged orders, thanking us for the delivery. And we should go back to Rikka. She will praise us and give us gold.



Legate Rikke will send us to help a detachment of legionnaires capture Fort Dunstad, which thanks to us was left without the support of the rebel forces. When approaching, the squad will rush forward, beginning an assault on the enemy fort.



Note: It is not necessary to go straight to the marked marker. You can simply approach the fort, then the battle will begin and the legionnaires will appear.

When the battle is over, we must return to Solitude to General Tullius, who will report that capturing the White Coast will give a huge advantage to the Imperial Legion. As a reward for completing the task, the general will give you the title of Prefect and reward you with a random weapon or armor (depending on the character level).

Note: There is a small bug - General Tullius will say that he is promoting us in rank and giving us a blade as a reward. But he himself can give away not a blade at all, but a shield, for example.

Take back control of the Rift

Note: If Riften was handed over to the Imperials during the quest "Time Without End", this quest will be skipped.

The next possession that must be returned to the rule of the Empire Rift. The general again sends us under the command of Rikke. Upon arrival, we will be instructed to go to Riften and try to find out how much the ruler of Jarl Anuriel is susceptible to blackmail. Rikka knows that the manager is quite closely connected with the Thieves Guild, and the legion can take advantage of this by threatening the manager with the declassification of not very honest affairs. This is what we will do. We need to take the letter from Anuriel's chest of drawers and then show it to her. This will make her think and she will want to talk to us alone. Anuriel will tell us that a strategically important caravan of rebels with gold and weapons has set off towards Windhelm, and it can turn the tide of the war.

Note: If you have a high Speech skill, you can beg her for gold.

We return to the legate and tell her what we learned. Rikke will send you to find a small group of legionnaires, led by our old friend Hadvar, who have been sent to scout the exact region where the rebel caravan is supposed to pass. Having joined the legionnaires, we must rob the caravan. Having removed the Storm Brothers, we can return to Rikka and get some more gold.

Upon returning to the imperial camp, the legate will entrust you with the following task: together with a detachment of legionnaires, capture Fort Greenwall, which, due to the capture of the caravan, was left without support and weapons. Having reached the waiting legionnaires, we will move to attack the unsuspecting Stormcloak soldiers. The already familiar principle of capturing a fort awaits us - clearing out enemies.



Regain control of Winterhold

Gives: General Tullius
The essence of the task: Follow Rikka's orders.

Arriving at Rikka, we learn that a detachment of imperials is being captured by the rebels in Fort Kastav. Our goal is to sneak into the fort, free the prisoners and capture the fort. But first you need to talk to Hadvar, he will tell you about the location of a secret hatch that leads directly to the fort.



Note: If you are spotted, you will have to fight immediately and the sneak infiltration will fail.

Having made our way into the fort, we must free our brothers in arms; this can be done simply by picking up the key on the table or from the Stormcloaks, or opening the locks ourselves. Now that the prisoners have been freed, we can begin to capture the fort.



We will need to kill all the rebels, and when we exit into the courtyard, Hadvar will also join us. After we kill all the enemies, Hadvar will express his gratitude to us.

Note: The prisoners are not required to survive. Sometimes Hadvar and his squad come to the rescue slowly or do not appear at all, this is a bug.

Now we can return to Tullius and receive a new rank Legate, and a reward in the form of weapons or armor.

Take back control of Eastmarch

Gives: General Tullius

We are again under the command of Legate Rikke, although this is a little strange after all, we are of the same rank as her, but not the essence. Our task is to clear Fort Amol. Standard battle, nothing complicated.



Then we return to the legate, she sends us to Tullius, the final battle awaits us. We go straight to the gates of the city of Windhelm.

Battle of Windhelm

The essence of the task: Capture Windhel and overthrow Ulfric.

When we arrive, we will hear a speech from Tullius and learn that he himself is leading the assault. Together with a detachment of legionnaires we enter the city through the main gate. We'll be right in the middle of the battle, but this time we'll leave the bulk of the fighting to the soldiers. Our task is to, together with General Tullius and Legate Rikke, make our way to the Royal Palace and find Ulfric Stormcloak there. The main path is blocked, you will have to take a detour. We need to turn left from the fortress gate and go out to the trading area, turning right from the forge and passing between the houses, we will go out to the city cemetery. Next, we must climb the steps to the right, passing the Hall of the Dead, and breaking the next barricade, go to the estate area. Turn right again, and, having passed through the alley, climb the stairs to the left, there will be only one barricade left, then the fortress. Entering the fortress we will see Petrel and Galmar.



Tullius will order Ulfric to surrender, but the rebel leader will refuse this offer and attack. We need to kill Galmar and wound Ulfric. Before his death, the rebel leader will announce his last wish: he will ask to be executed by Dovahkiin. We will be given the choice of killing Ulfric Stormcloak, or giving this opportunity to General Tullius. In any case, the rebel leader will be killed, and the general will thank us for our service and leave his sword. All that remains is to listen to Tullius’s speech.


A slow and exhausting war engulfed all of Skyrim. The Imperial Legion is trying to become more influential and force the Nords to obey the laws of the Empire, which includes Skyrim. And the Storm Brothers are trying to defend the independence of their region.

Note: none of the warring sides can be called right. Each has its own good and bad sides, as well as its own secrets.

How to join the imperial army?

Find a house in Solitude called "Gloomy Castle" (however, in appearance it is not a castle at all). You will continue your passage of Skyrim with the introductory task from Legate Rikke (she is in the house).

Joining the Legion

She will ask you to destroy all the robbers in the fort. This task is not difficult at all. You must get to the fort (will be visible on the map) and kill all enemies. Then return to the customer and take the oath. Now you can go to the blacksmith and pick up your imperial armor. Congratulations, you have joined the Imperial Legion...

Legate Rikke will again provide you with a new task. You need to find the legendary Jagged Crown. You must reach an ancient burial place for the Nords. It's called Corvanjud. However, upon arrival you will be informed that the Stormcloaks have preceded you. Playing through Skyrim is not complete without a fight. Destroy them all and make your way to the entrance. You will then be forced to take a detour because Rikka suspects a trap lies ahead. The bypass is located above your head. So find the stairs and hit the road.

Note: By going around, you will have the opportunity to throw a jug at the enemy to ignite the oil at the feet of the Stormcloaks. This will help you finish them off. For all of the above, use a spell or arrow. To complete Skyrim, after eliminating all enemies, go to the next tier in the burial. Almost at the entrance you will see a door, which can only be opened using a claw (it is located near the door). The puzzle can be solved like this: first the wolf, then the bird, then the remaining picture. Ahead of you is a room and a grate, which you will have to open again somehow. Climb the stairs and make your way to the other side through the platforms. To complete Skyrim, press on the handle that appears. This will open the grate, but then four Draugr will emerge from their coffins.

Note: After going up the stairs, you can find a dagger (on a tile). Take it. Then you will see a secret passage that has opened. However, be careful with the chest - it will trigger a trap.

Ahead you will encounter a dead man with the same Jagged Crown on his head. Kill him and take the crown. Now return to Tullius. By the way, at the very end of the corridor you will find a wall on which a new word of power has been applied.

Message for Whiterun

Next, General Tullius will continue your passage of the game Skyrim with the next task. You will need to deliver Tullius' letter to the Jarl in Whiterun, and then give the ax to Ulfric. Note: If you have not yet completed the main quest, you must first go kill the dragon in the dungeon.

The Jarl in Whiterun will direct you to Ulfric (give him the axe). And this is a sign of the beginning of the war. Having reached it, you will be informed that Ulfric is already preparing to begin the assault on Whiterun. Therefore, you urgently need to inform the jarl about this. However, when you get to it, the fight has already begun.

Battle of Whiterun

Here, the passage of the game Skyrim does not pose any riddles - just kill all the Stormcloaks. You can see the degree of your victory or defeat in the percentage of enemy health. Having destroyed all the enemies, either go to the city gates to listen to the jarl give his speech, or go straight to Tullius. For completing this task in Skyrim, you will become a “Questor”, and you will also receive a good blade.

Unification of Skyrim

General Tullius will ask you this time to ensure the protection of the forts and carry out all orders coming from Rikke. This mission is a unifying mission for a couple of side missions, but your main goal will be to defend Skyrim to the fullest. This task is also closely intertwined with the main story quest called “Endless Time”. Passing the game Skyrim in it gives you the task of persuading the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion to negotiate and conclude a peace agreement. According to the decision made, the warring parties will exchange cities and, thus, begin to introduce their command there. In the event that you have already completed this mission, capture the Reach, and if not, then head to the Rift.

Regain control of White Beach

This mission is a continuation of the previous one. Here you need to follow the orders coming from Rikke.

Tullius will ask you to go to a meeting with the Imperials at their camp, which is located on the White Coast. And you will again join the legate of Rikke. The plan is this - you must plant misleading documents on the Stormcloaks. But first, find their original. It is kept by the militia, who frequent a couple of taverns in Windhelm and outside the city. Of course, it is easier to take the second path. Go to the tavern and persuade its owner to assist you.

Note: the easiest way to convince the innkeeper is to inform him of the danger threatening the militia.

Find out the road along which the messenger will travel from the owner of the inn and find him. Select the documents and go back to the legate. In the papers found, you will read that Fort Dunstad is asking for support. The legate will falsify the document. This will deprive the fort of help, and the Dawnstar commander will be misinformed. And you need to deliver fake papers to the Dawnstar militia commander. Frockmar, named Torn Banner, will easily trust your assurances that you were forced to change your clothes in order to sneak among your opponents unrecognized. Thus, the false order will be accepted. And you will also be grateful for their delivery. To complete Skyrim, return to Rikka and listen to her praise as well. In addition, you can take your well-deserved gold.

Next you will be sent to assist a detachment of legionnaires in the capture of Fort Dunstad. After all, thanks to your efforts, he is without the support of the militias. As soon as you get close, your squad will begin an active attack on the enemy fort.

After the battle is over, go back to Solitude to meet with General Tullius. He will tell you that if the Imperial Army captures the White Coast, they will be much ahead. Successfully completing this mission in Skyrim will allow you to become a prefect and receive some kind of weapon or armor (the type will depend on your level).

Note: here you will notice a minor bug - Tullius will inform you about the promotion of rank and the issue of a blade to you. But in reality you can get a shield.

Take back control of the Rift

You will again obey Rikka.

Note: If Dawnstar served the Empire during the mission "Time Without End", this mission will be removed.

To complete Skyrim, you now have to conquer another city for the empire called the Rift. You will rejoin the legate of Rikke on the orders of General Tullius. On the spot you will be sent to Riften. There you will try to find out whether it makes sense to start blackmailing the commander, Jarl Anuriel. Rikke is confident that the commander often interacts with the Thieves Guild, which can serve the legion well. After all, he can make some of her “sins” public. Here's your task. Steal the letter from the chest of drawers in Anuriel's room and tell her about it. Then she will get scared and ask to meet with her together. Anuriel will tell you that a very important caravan with militias left for Windhelm. It is loaded with a variety of weapons and gold and can greatly influence the course of the war.

Note: if you have a high level of the Speech skill, you can persuade her to give the gold to you.

Go to the legate, then tell Rikka about the news. She will send you in search of a detachment of legionnaires, controlled by the already familiar Hadvar. This group was sent to reconnoiter the situation in the area that the militia caravan was supposed to cross. Together with the legionnaires, you need to rob a caravan and kill the Stormcloaks. Then return back to Rikka and collect the gold for completing the quest in Skyrim.

Returning to the Empire Camp, you will receive another task from the legate. It consists of capturing Fort Greenwall with the help of a group of legionnaires. This fort, after the robbery of the caravan, is without weapons or any support. Having joined the legionnaires, begin to storm the fortress - you will take your enemies by surprise. You can capture the fort by destroying all enemies.

After completing the task, go to General Tullius. He will grant you the new title of "Tribune" and send you again to the imperial camp in Winterhold to Legate Rikka.

Regain control of Winterhold

On the spot you will be informed that the militia at Fort Kastav captured a group of Imperials. You need to sneak into the fort, release the prisoners, and then capture the fort. However, first, talk to Hadvar and find out from him where the secret hatch is located through which you can get into the fort.

Note: Be very careful. You need to get through unnoticed. Otherwise, you will immediately enter into battle and fail the covert infiltration mission. Inside the fort, find and free the prisoners. To do this, find the key on the table (if it is not there, then search the Storm Brothers). And then, after freeing your brothers, begin to storm the fort. Kill all the militias. Even though you have received the same rank as Rikke, you will still continue to be under her command. Your goal will be to clear a fort called Amol. This will be a normal easy battle. Joining the Legion
If you decide to join the Imperial Legion and put down the rebellion in Skyrim, you need to talk to Legate Rikke at Castle Gloom in Solitude.

Attention! After taking the oath, you will no longer be able to join the Stormcloaks.
You will also receive a task from the MISCELLANEOUS section to obtain armor from the blacksmith.

The legate will give a short speech. Talk to her when you are ready to attack. A small squad of Stormcloaks awaits you outside. Another speech by the legate before entering. There are also few enemies inside. The most difficult thing here is to distinguish ours from strangers. Be careful. Rikke will instruct you to go upstairs and get past the ambush. Those who wield fire can set fire to the oil under soldiers. Go to Korvanjund - Halls.
There are some more storm brothers here and a door that opens with the Ebony Dragon Claw that lies right in front of it. Sequence from top to bottom: wolf, butterfly, dragon. While the soldiers are walking back and forth, go forward, up, pull the lever on the wall. This will wake up the draugr. Kill them and go to Korvanjund - Crypt. You need to attack the draugr warlord who sits on the throne, as well as everyone else. Take the Jagged Crown from the body. Scream on the wall - time dilation. Search the crypt for useful things and you can get out through the passage from above. Bring the crown to General Tullius.

Message for Whiterun
General Tullius has ordered you to take important documents to Jarl Balgruuf about the impending attack on Whiterun by the Stormcloaks. After some advice, the jarl will give you an ax and send you straight to Windhelm to Ulfric Stormcloak. And he will return you to Balgruuf again. View another piece of military advice.

Battle of Whiterun
Travel to Legate Rikka through besieged Whiterun. Burning shells land everywhere, and residents flee to the castle in panic. After Rikke's next speech, you join the battle! You need all the enemies (some 100%), while preventing them from breaking into the city. Upon completion, go up to the entrance to the city and listen to the victorious speech of Jarl Balgruuf, after finishing, talk to him, get permission to purchase a house in Whiterun.

Unification of Skyrim
Go to Solitude to General Thulius. He will hand you a very, very powerful weapon. In my case it was a Daedric (!!!) inferno sword, with 30 units. fire damage.
But your further adventures also depend on the plot quest Endless Time. In it, you could make completely different decisions, so only you know which cities were given to whom. The essence of the task is to take all of them under the control of the Empire.

Disinformation
So you arrive at a camp near the city. Talk to Legate Rikke. She will give you the task of stealing important documents from messengers. You need to arrive at the tavern along the route of the messenger. Talk to the innkeeper, bribe or convince him. It will give out his location. Meet the Stormcloak messenger; when you offer to hand over the documents, he will attack you. Take the enemy documents and return to Rikka. Now you need to deliver the forged documents to the rebel commander in the city. Then return to Rikka.

Battle of Fort Dunstad
Since reinforcements will not arrive at this fort soon, Legate Rikke will instruct you and a detachment of soldiers to take it by storm. Meet with this detachment and attack the fort, kill some 100% of the soldiers in it, after which the rest will simply run away. Report to General Tullius.

Fort Kastav - saving comrades
Go to the named fort. Go down through the hatch into the prison. The prisoners are chatting about some guard, but I didn’t meet him here, but the key was on the table. Unlock all the bars. Come out to the fort and fight! You need to kill all the Stormcloaks in the fort. Talk to Hadvar, whom you may have seen during the Battle of Whiterun. Report success to Tulius.

Battle of Fort Snowhawk
Again you receive a task from Rikke to capture the fort. How sad it is that the battle does not take place in the city, as it was in Gothic 3, for example. The next 100% of the soldiers to kill. When finished, report to General Tullius.

Battle of Fort Sungard
It's possible that if you didn't turn Markarth over to the Stormcloaks, this quest won't happen. Kill 100% of the soldiers and report to the general.

Battle of Fort Amol
It's Windhelm's turn. Legate Rikke will send you to Fort Amol to help the squad capture it. Return to Rikka's camp for the final battle.

Battle of Windhelm
Finally the battle is in the city! Find General Thulius in front of Windhelm's gates. After his speech you can enter the city. You need to break through a huge battle to the palace. Inside you will find yourself with General Thulius and Legate Rikke. You will have to kill Galmar. Then you will be given a choice: kill Ulfric yourself, or leave it to Thulius. As a reward, Thulium will give you a wonderful sword (in my case, level 52, Daedric!). Windhelm will be completely rebuilt and will also receive a new ruler. Now you can buy a house here and receive the title of Thane. This concludes the missions of the Imperial Legion. Glory to the Empire! For the Emperor!
