Client racing. Multiplayer Games Racing GAMES

Every day I see a familiar picture: cars are lined up in long chains, drivers are tensely waiting for the bumper in front to move a few centimeters, and passers-by easily and naturally overtake the unfortunate people on footpaths. Traffic jams are a motorist's hell.

Of course, drivers are not told about such “unforgettable” sensations in advertising brochures, they are not written in magazines, or they are not warned at the dealership before purchasing a car. Traffic doesn't care what kind of car you have, what time you have to get to work, or how much money is in your bank account. Only here can the dead six outperform the German 911 with a 600 horsepower biturbo engine. It's a shame, right? However, should we be sad?

Watching how drivers, stuck in traffic jams, dream of free roads, I wanted to shake off the old days and ride with the breeze. Why not? There is no need to buy a car, there is no need to breathe exhaust fumes either - the smell of aromatic coffee on your desktop will create a more pleasant atmosphere. And, of course, the choice of routes is not limited to Volgogradsky Avenue. All that remains is to find the right races.

For some reason the legendary one comes to mind first Need for Speed Underground, which set the urban trend for all subsequent NFS series. Along with it, trips along rural roads, views of elephant-filled beaches, endless desert landscapes, small towns on the highways, golden alleys of trees with rustling leaves and a captivating feeling of unity with nature are a thing of the past. This has been replaced by a concrete urban jungle. A pleasant exception was NFS The Run, but critics successfully buried it for the lack of a thoughtful script and too straightforward plot.

At first glance, NFSU is what you need, except for a small fly in the ointment - you need to spend your hard-earned money to acquire a client. This slight misunderstanding could have been circumvented by going in search of the treasured disk, purchased 100,500 years ago, but that was not the case. Not only is the chance of finding such a small item after repair very slim, but the disc could have been given to one of his friends out of the kindness of his heart. Of course, I didn't remember who. A small fly in the ointment turned into a huge toad, which slowly but surely began to choke me. My suffering was short-lived. Looking ahead, I will say that everything ended well. I'm alive and well. The toad turned out to be powerless against the free 2 play adherent.

Go ahead and search for “MMO racing” games! Today, everywhere you look, there are offers to download F2P MMORPGs. If there is an RPG, then there must be racing somewhere nearby.

According to the foreign online press, the list of the most popular “MMO racing” is as follows:

  • RayCity
  • Heat Online(aka Speed Online in RUS, aka Project Torque in US, aka Level-R in EU)

Titles are listed in random order without ranking. I will separate the flies from the cutlets a little later. First, let's see what is available without shamanism using proxies and VPNs. After all, this is an additional expense line that is not included in my plans.

Of the entire list, two games turned out to be unsuitable.

RayCity is the brainchild of Seoul studio EA. The game client is available only in Thai localization with rare inserts of translation into English. Apparently, in the “distant” Thai future (the year is 2555 there now, by the way), English has lost so much of its relevance that it is customary to sign the most unnecessary interface elements in it. They won't be read in Thai anyway, so why not sign them in English?

Trackmania is a game, before launching which they forgot to write in capital letters: “ATTENTION! ONLY FOR COSMONATES!” My vestibular apparatus is not able to endure the crazy acrobatic somersaults of cars on futuristic tracks. Have you ever played PinBall? There the ball flies like crazy all over the playing field, bouncing off all sorts of obstacles. So, TM is a game for those who wanted to feel like this ball, and not the driver of a racing car. I had to cross it off the list.

Let's return to the remaining candidates.

Need for Speed World. Good old NFS, only with MMO sauce. At least that's what the developers promise. I want to believe.

The first few minutes after launching the client are spent on a standard set of routine actions: selecting the driver’s name, avatar, car, setting up control keys and graphics. All formalities have been completed. Hooray! You can get into the car and escape from the boring hangar towards adventures with the obligatory speed limit. Here it is, a wonderful life without traffic jams, without the need to stand in line at a gas station, without a familiar pothole that you were tired of driving around when leaving home, without motorcyclists growling straight through an open window, without the fear of parting with a round sum of cash for an accidental kiss on the rear bumper in front. standing slowpoke. Fairy tale! On this uplifting note I am brought back to earth. Want some adventure? Do a couple of laps in a training ride. Hm. Adventures after training. OK. It's not difficult for me.

The introduction was very short. They put me in the car, showed me how to steer, where the gas was, where the brake was, and everything else was left for me to learn on my own. I didn’t even want to waste time on such a “complicated” tutorial, but according to the laws of meanness, it cannot be missed.

The winners of the training race find themselves in the game world - a small, deserted town. The most appropriate description is the ghost of Detroit, in the setting of the city from the second Underground. The world promised in the title turned out to be very modest. Why was the game called that? Mystery. We'll chalk it up to a clever marketing ploy. Then, to complete the picture, they could add the track “The world is not enough” to the playlist.

Finally, you can fully concentrate on the road. I flew low through the streets for twenty minutes, practiced making controlled drifts, admired the good physics, the detailed drawing of the car, and explored the surroundings and hangouts of the players. Unfortunately, the pleasure of aimlessly driving quickly ended. I wanted more: a cooler car, try other racing modes, see what was offered in the quests. I had no idea what disappointment awaited me.

The harsh truth is that NFSW is woefully lacking in content. There is absolutely nothing to do in the game. The number of all game modes can be counted on one hand. Where did everything that was developed in the single-player versions of NFS go? During the two years of its existence, the game did not make any significant changes. Only for the 2 year anniversary did the developers decide to add a drag racing mode. If it took 2 years to transfer drag from Underground, then we have to wait a couple more years for drift? Things are even worse with story quests - they simply don’t exist.

We can only hope that EA management will begin to take their MMO brainchild more seriously and begin to make up for lost time by leaps and bounds. Until this happens, NFSW has nothing to compete with its competitors, except good graphics and a bunch of licensed car models.

Drift City- can be called, without exaggeration, a pioneer of the MMO racing genre. The release took place in 2007. The first thing that catches your eye is the unusual graphics. It’s as if the black and white world of a futuristic manga was transferred from paper pages to a colorful virtual world. Now anyone can access it with one click from their desktop. In fact, this lyrical digression about manga is not so far from the truth. From the very first race, the player becomes part of the events unfolding around the little-studied energy source Mitron, which has displaced the usual carbon fuel from the market. All storylines and quest lines will be connected in one way or another with this mysterious fuel. You can read more about the history of the world and much more at.

As usual, all newcomers get cars of the lowest class. I was no exception. They gave me a Nissan 240SX, which in the game bears the proud name of Drifter V1. Naturally, I want to immediately change to a Nissan GTR, but a drifter will do. The main thing is to get them out onto the track faster.

Hand-drawn graphics mixed with models of real cars create a very strange impression. It’s as if there’s not a real car on the road, but a toy plastic dummy. Management is appropriate. Physics and effects are made in the best traditions of arcade games. Any collision of the car with an obstacle is accompanied by an inevitable flash and a sound signal; when turning sharply, the wheels will leave a spectacular trail of cardboard smoke on the asphalt, and when using the boost, the car turns into a low-flying rocket. But that's not all. When you try to fix a car, a man in a Spiderman suit jumps onto the hood with a key in his hands and performs repairs right on the go!

A little different from what I expected, but arcade fans should like it. You won't get bored at DC. On every street in the city, dozens of different tasks await you with very good rewards. One day you have a chance to be a courier, a patrolman, a special agent, or a taxi driver. If you're tired of quests, you can earn goodies by simply driving around the city. Prizes are awarded for performing special combo techniques: drifting, driving in oncoming traffic, jumping from a springboard. Extra items will always find a place at auction.

The game has what NFSW is missing, but the strong arcade bent won't be to everyone's taste. Fans of more realistic racing should take a closer look at Auto Club Revolution.

Auto Club Revolution- the most innovative races in terms of the implementation of the social component. It's no secret that without the ability to interact and communicate with other players there would be no MMO games. In most races, special locations, the so-called lobbies, are allocated for these purposes. As a rule, this is a spacious hangar that houses several kiosks providing all kinds of services and options provided by the game, as well as a large parking area where drivers share the latest news while waiting for the next race. After trying a couple of games, you quickly get used to the presence of such a lobby. It would seem, what can you come up with to replace it? The ACR team has the answer to this question.

On which sites do people communicate the most? That's right, on social networks. Social networks are an inexhaustible source of new friends and acquaintances, millions of hours of live communication per day and, in combination, an immense advertising platform for promoting goods and services. If you want to be successful, sooner or later, the roads will lead to social networks. Sounds intriguing?

After launching the game client, it collapses into a tiny icon next to the clock. There is neither the usual splash screen, nor an authorization form, nor any interesting background. There is nothing. Nothing happens. That is, nothing at all. Although I’m lying, the icon will change its color to green a little later. No matter how much you look at the icon, the game itself will not start. Here the main surprise awaited me.

The guys from ACR decided to outdo everyone by making the usual lobby in the form of a website! Essentially, the game controls have been moved from the good old client to the website. The game is also launched from the website, but only for the duration of the race. A very unusual solution. It turns out that on one browser tab you can meditate on Facebook, and on the second you can discuss the results of the last race or prepare the car for the next race. Integration with social networks works wonders. Almost the recordings of the best races can be posted on your page on the social network.

Unfortunately, it was not without its shortcomings. To use all the features, you must install additional software for the browser. And, of course, my “favorite” drawback is the problem with data synchronization between the client and the site. In an unequal battle with me, he won a convincing victory, and ACR lost another player.

HEAT Online- one of the most successful games of its genre. At some point, it was presented in several versions at once: for the States, Europe and Russia. Perhaps someone else remembers their names: “Project Torque” (US), “Level-R” (EU) and “Speed Online” (RUS). After a protracted struggle between the first two for the same players, it was decided to relaunch the English versions under the new name HEAT Online. I won’t say that I’m happy about this, but at least it seems logical. The Russian-language version was less fortunate - it was simply closed, although they gave everyone the opportunity to transfer their account to HEAT. Apparently, these are the harsh realities of the Russian gaming industry. We have a hard time with online racing.

It took a couple of minutes to download and install the client. An interesting find saved a lot of time - registration directly in the game. Each newcomer is given a compact runabout as a gift. I got something similar to a Lada Kalina. The first impression of the controls is very good. The car looks like a car, you can feel its dimensions, mass, and inertia when cornering. If you give more gas at the wrong moment, the rear axle will certainly skid under the spectacular roar of the engine. The physics is at the level of racing without pretensions to a hardcore simulator, but without going to extremes, as is done in Drift City.

NFSW is HO's main competitor. The two games are similar, like Siamese twins, but each has its own character and its own distinctive features. Since there is very little content in NFSW, it would be easier for me to say what is in HEAT and not in NFS.

The lobby is similar to the NFSW city, but there are a few differences. Firstly, the streets are not intended for racing, only for completing single-player daily tasks. Secondly, the size and layout of the city is somewhat inferior to NFS, but there are pedestrians on the streets :) The remaining differences are so insignificant that they are not worth focusing on.

The actual racing. Money for the first improvement of your car is easily earned by completing simple tasks for transporting passengers. They pay generously, and in about 20-30 minutes you can go to the store for a set of new parts. A new body kit and a couple of improvements will add solidity and hide the car’s VAZ past. In this form it is no longer a shame to compete with other players. There are several modes to choose from: VS, Drift, CTF, Thunder Alley (TA) (NASCAR), SUMO, Explorer. The first three mods are clear without comment, but the rest are worth saying a few words.

Thunder Alley (TA)- circuit racing of stock cars, better known as NASCAR. Adrenaline in its purest form. From the outside it may seem like tedious cutting of the same circles. It's actually not that simple. The outcome of the race depends entirely on two things: the correctness of the chosen strategy and the clarity of its implementation. If you forget to refuel, you will have to run to the finish line on foot. Trying to join the main group after a pit stop can end up picking up parts from your car all over the track if the exit speed is too low. The beauty of this mode is in its details and nuances. There is no place for casuals here. The following mod is suitable for them.

Explorer- a fun and relaxed collection of items scattered around the map. The one who collected the most wins. A great way to let yourself cool down after 100 plus the first attempt to go for gold in the next stage of the singles race. By the way, gold. It's good that I remembered. More about him below.

SUMO- You already understand everything, right? You imagine yourself as a huge fat man, then, at the judge’s go-ahead, you begin to push your opponents out of the circle. It's simple. Of course, in the case of cars, the circle will be a little larger, but this does not change the essence. The winner is the one who pushes the most cars into the cliff. Cute, but too arcadey.

For beginner players like me, the single-player mode is ideal for getting to know all the features of the game, as well as practicing before fighting a real opponent. I myself did not expect such amazing perseverance from myself, demonstrated for the sake of gold in the time trial. The race started again twenty times. With each subsequent attempt, the mistakes became fewer and fewer: I learned to choose the right angle of attack before entering a turn, stopped recklessly pressing the gas before a fork, and used nitro immediately after entering the straight line. Of course, there was an opportunity to lower the bar to silver or bronze, but I “I want zoito” ©. It's nice that my efforts were rewarded.

On this pleasant note, one could say “smooch everyone in this chat,” wave your hand and quietly leave. Although no, I should take this opportunity to convey a few words to my relatives:

- Mom, if you are suddenly reading this, hello! I’ll definitely help you hang the curtains :)

Well, seriously speaking, the conclusions that emerge are quite disappointing. The current situation with f2p MMO racing looks extremely depressing. The patient is more dead than alive. The number of races that I would like to spend at least a couple of evenings with can be listed on one hand. Players have virtually no alternative. The only decent game is HEAT Online, but it is already starting to lose its position. Its closest successor, ACR, is in its infancy. It is not clear what will come of it and whether it will work at all. NFSW is a 20-minute fun game without content, but with obsessive donations. It would seem that the lack of competition should motivate developers to take a closer look at racing. In theory, yes, but in practice, the usual laws of the market work somehow differently. We can only wait and hope for the emergence of new titles that will change the situation for the better. Just hurry up, otherwise the fans will all run away soon.

Race is a genre of online computer games for fans of high speeds and exciting chases. Racing games online for free on PC (computer) Suitable for those fans of computer games who love excitement, drive, speed and an endless road.

The “Racing” game category was one of the first to emerge, and this was when not every player in the 90s knew what a personal computer was. At first these were consoles with joysticks that could be played by one or two people. However, in a single-player game it is impossible to fully experience the whole spirit and excitement of the confrontation, because of this, races for two were more popular. When a personal computer connected to the Internet appeared, online racing gained even more popularity. The number of gamers, despite the emergence of other game genres, has only increased. Now you can freely play racing games online and download them to your computer.

Most players do not know how important racing games were in video game history. All the way back to the 1970’s when video games were large physical arcade machines, racing games were pushing the limits of what was possible in video games.

In early racing games, developers introduced new game play mechanics like the scrolling levels later adopted in other game genres. First person driving games were also invented early on during the historical racing game era.

The inventions happening within all the emerging car games of the 1980’s brought players even more creative game play mechanics. This is when “radar” was created. The mini map showed the direction of other players. This system to help players navigate continued evolving to support more complex game worlds.

In the 1990’s, Nintendo consoles paved the way for new sub genres of racing games like kart racing. Instead of arcade style racing or racing simulators of the past, these games featured fun power-ups like turtle shells. The wacky power-ups changed how racing games could be played, adding more offensive options to the traditional time challenge of racing.

In the 2000’s, console platforms continued to push the limits of what was possible in racing game worlds. Improved 3D graphics and much bigger open worlds evolved racing games to the next level. Racing could be mapped to city streets in open worlds. The large worlds in turn opened the door for shortcuts that were not possible since the arcade era of racing games.

Since the old times, the internet has made racing games a free for all as many genre options are available today. From arcade style, to simulation, 2D side-scrolling, and way more sub genres. Online racing games offer many vehicle types to choose from, like bikes, motorbikes, jet skies, and boats. I would say the sky"s the limit but I think developers will dream up even more new ways to race.

Among MMO games, online racing are the smallest genre. There are no more than a dozen worthy projects, and those presented on the RuNet can be counted on one hand. This is due to the difficulties of development. After all, for online racing, multiplayer alone is not enough; you need to create a single game world in which users would be interested in being. Not the least role in the lack of worthy projects is played by the high costs of developers for licensing cars. Only very large and successful companies can afford to create expensive games, which are mostly distributed for free. At the same time, online racing is not only not inferior to its offline counterparts, but also in many ways surpasses them in terms of quantity and quality of content.

Many people call APB: Reloaded the online version of GTA. Such conversations are related to the fact that David Jones, the man who was at the origins of the Grand Theft Auto series, was working on this project. In APB, as in any other MMO game, the main intrigue is related to the confrontation between warring factions, in this case, criminals and security forces. If the security forces are trying to maintain order in the city, then the main goal of the criminals is to shake this order. Who should I join? The decision is yours.

Crossout is the most popular multiplayer computer action game in the post-apocalyptic style with third-person control. Events take place in a world where it is necessary to create armored vehicles from various parts. Massive armored vehicle tournaments and combat tours of unique user-assembled vehicles are exciting and quite original. The online action game was developed in 2017 by the famous Russian company Targem Games, which has already received several specialized awards for its contribution to the creation of games.

Electronic Arts released a teaser announcing the game Need for Speed World back in 2009. In this video you could admire a couple of cool cars that were racing at full speed through Palmont City. In 2010, the long-awaited release of the game took place in the promised f2p format. Then the game turned out to be crude and unready for the market of multiplayer online games.

The latest project that the development team from Eutechnyx worked on was called Auto Club Revolution. ACR is an online racing simulator and a car maniac's dream come true. Each car featured in the game is licensed and has a real production prototype, meticulously recreated in the smallest detail.

For those who don't know, Metal War Online is an online arcade racing game with combat. Its closest relatives, in terms of genre, are the award-winning World of Tanks and the Twisted Metal series, with the caveat that in Metal War Online we do not control tanks, but futuristic cars that have no real prototypes.
