The world release of Gangstar New Orleans, a new game in the GTA-like series from Gameloft, took place. Gangster New Orleans for Android

When I woke up in the morning I thought, why did I wake up? All my days are spent playing games on phones, subjectively criticizing xy***e games that everyone already knows about, generally not bringing anything new, for the amusement of the crowd, something needs to change, it needs to get better, with these thoughts I went to the toilet and started fucking, as usual, missing because of the erection, and when I came out, the thought struck me, and fuck this idea, and went to write a review of another product from gameloft , let's start with a rating of 4.2, so what the fuck, why so much? The maximum for this game is 3.4. As I understand the world is completely fucked up, the person of the year is made a girl with mental disorders from Sweden, who is trying to “save the planet from pollution” and at the same time almost constantly scorches herself with it, they add black people to films about the Middle Ages, New Orleans 4.2 points.
So, perhaps we should start with the plot? Like lol, (now there will be a mega wow joke) they just took latest missions GTA SA (where all we do is capture) and made the whole plot out of them, okay, maybe the game doesn’t shine with a plot, but maybe the gameplay will save it... No, seriously, what the fuck is this? What the f*ck am I so much so that he can’t even hit the hero, or even at all, they shoot somewhere in the other direction, I generally keep quiet about the police, they’re just like f***ing sheep, they run towards the main hero, sometimes even without weapons, they can only kill you at 4-5 stars, and even then, if you yourself approach them, if you leave them, they will forget about you, and damn, such a f*** even GTA 3 can’t afford this, I understand that the open world here is purely for show, since you don’t go to the mission site, you teleport, but still, they could make it suitable if they tried, and so, for open world three
What can I say about the missions, everything here is the same as with the plot, here they also took the last missions from SA, and made them the main task of the entire game, and of course, there are exceptions, like a race, etc., but the most important thing is that it’s interesting is it possible to complete these missions? No... This is just some kind of bullshit, all the missions are the same damn, you either have to save someone, or just kill all the mercenaries, no variety, absolutely nothing, although you know, I think I know why they didn’t bother with missions, yes yes yes, you understood everything correctly, fucking energy, I understand that I’m swearing too much, but damn, how can we simply express ourselves culturally when we’re not having a game, but a piece of bullshit g***a, which luckily doesn’t stink, how can you add energy at all, and most likely realizing that this will be rejected by many people, I put up with that f*** (I have a specific taste, you won’t understand) I endured for the sake of the review , but I don’t advise you,
Result: 0/10 fuck it, but yeah, I completely forgot, here, as I understand it, serious game, but they fucking give us graphics from Fortnite and some stupid jokes on the level of Jumble, that’s all...

This is the 5th part of the series on smartphones! This is the 1st part, which will be Free-to-Play from the very beginning!

In the meantime, let's remember the rich collection of previous games:

2006 — Gangstar: Crime City (Java)

November 2008— Gangstar 2: Kings of L.A (Java, WM, Android, Blackberry, DSi, Freebox)

2008 - Gangster Samurai (Brew) JAPAN

There is another game - American Gangster. Perhaps some people think that it also belongs to the series. But that's not true. This project was released in 2007 for Java ME based on the film of the same name. The same engine was used. Therefore, it is easy to confuse him.

As you can see, the Gangstar series has many original issues and spin-offs. As for Gangstar: New Orleans, the release is expected in the third quarter. 2016. In addition, next year we will have another branch - Gangstar Modern War.

Over the past year and a half, things have been going badly for mobile gaming giant Gameloft. A decent number of studios have closed; the free to play model offered by the French has not justified itself. But early this summer, Vivendi bought a stake in Gameloft, becoming its new owner. Some time later, a short video appeared online demonstrating games that would be released in 2016-2017. Among them was Gangstar New Orleans.

The 17-second video immediately surprised fans, who noticed the new comic style, previously used in the completely unsuccessful BiA3. Nothing else was known about the game. And now, almost a month after the scheduled release date, a new game in the series appears in App Store Philippines.

Let's start with the plot. The game starts with a short cutscene. It shows us a carnival disrupted by an explosion. He was satisfied main character- a ruthless biker who came to New Orleans for profit. Quite a strange decision. The hero doesn't appeal to us at all. And if in Gangstar Rio and Gangstar Vegas the protagonists also did dark things, in general their motives were more or less noble - to destroy the mafiosi, for example, and not to shoot everyone, kill cops (which, in fact, everyone does, but this is not the main goal games). During the first mission, we will be offered a choice of 6 different faces for the hero, which is not bad.

The game introduces us to many interesting personalities who give us tasks: a sorceress; good old “E” (in the game he is now “I”), who hangs out in New Orleans.

Everything looks more cinematic than Gangstar Vegas. Beautiful plans, good animation - all this helps to perceive the game as a film. In general, the quality of the plot has not improved much since the previous game in the series: kill, rob, take, protect - the game does not surprise us with anything extraordinary. Everything is voiced and animated nicely.

Let's move on to the gameplay - the weakest part of Gangstar New Orleans. There is energy in the game, which, moreover, takes a very long time to recover. Missions are various timed tasks: the faster, the more likely you are to get 3 stars for the mission. In general, the missions are more varied than in the previous part, however, due to the absolutely inadequate donation, it becomes difficult to complete the game already at level 4. A new game feature has also appeared: now, having raised our authority, we can capture areas and kill their leaders. This, in turn, brings us passive income.

Unlike previous installments, in Gangstar New Orleans the AI of cops and bandits has become better. It is also encouraging that Gameloft is trying to enliven passers-by on the streets: you can often see young guys taking selfies or drunks staggering from side to side. However, this cannot hide the obvious problems of the gameplay: a very intrusive donation forces us to purchase diamonds. Lack of balance, constant lack of ammo, first aid kits, very strong NPCs do not make the game “hardcore”; on the contrary, they make it unbalanced. However, for now this is a soft launch and we can hope that the developers will correct the situation.

For me personally, a very interesting change was the complete graphical redesign - now the game looks cartoonish. After the announcement, this could mean that now you can save on performance, which means increasing the drawing distance, adding cutscenes, improving animation, adding more people to the streets, enlarging the map.

In general, the animation is not bad. We are now watching how the player beats up townspeople, “squeezes out” cars, kills bosses - everything is beautiful. There are about the same number of people on the streets as in Gangstar Vegas, but Gameloft was completely disappointed with the draw distance. On the iPhone 7, when flying from a helicopter, we see some angular islands, muddy surface of water, boxes of houses. From above, the game looks much worse than Gangstar Rio, as you can see in the screenshot below.

The map in New Orleans is somewhat larger, although it would seem that there was an opportunity to increase it significantly. Now the map is more diverse. We can visit swamps, forests, residential areas, city ports, airports, etc. The graphics in the game are nice: textures high resolution, real-time shadows from everything possible, a dynamic change of day and night, bloom, global occlusion and clouds - these are no longer just ugly textures, they are constantly changing, moving and voluminous.

Physics has also been tweaked. The car behaves better than in Vegas, it doesn't skid like a cardboard box. When we crash into a pedestrian, we really feel him: the car’s movement becomes difficult until we throw him off the hood. Also pleased is the appearance of a new “action camera”, similar to the camera in the console racing game Need for Speed 2015. Every collision is really felt. True, the flaws of the previous parts remain. Quite often you can see how an NPC taxi driver barely touches a tree or pole that is already flying across the entire highway.

Only a few words can be said about management. It's disgusting here. Terrible responsiveness, constant problems: the player cannot jump over a curb or other obstacle. There is no customization for individual control, although this is a useful feature.

What could we expect? Many were waiting for the addition of multiplayer, which would definitely make us play the game much harder and more often; we could also expect the addition of various weather effects, the addition of shops, restaurants, gyms - all this would make the game more realistic and interesting.

In fact, we have a finished game that has completely lost its soul: there are no interesting, crazy features that we see in GTA, just as there are no attempts left to put the soul into this project, the series. The map is absolutely uninteresting from the point of view of studying, although, it would seem, it would be possible to add even some Easter eggs that attract players so much. In a word, Gangstar New Orleans is a casual game, and there is no point in waiting for the next part of the series, because it’s unlikely that anything will change.

LET'S SUM UP:

  • Graphics - 3/5. Poor draw distance, lack of normal water shaders.
  • Physics - 4/5. The problems have not been completely fixed.
  • Plot - 3/5 (nothing new is introduced into the game)
  • Gameplay - 2/5. There is no incentive in the game to drive around the city and explore it. The player is “forced” to complete tasks and wait until the energy is restored.
  • Sound and music - 4/5. The sound quality of shooting, cars, city and voice acting is excellent; There aren't many good tracks on the car radio.
  • Average score - 3/5.
