Map update dust 2. Pardon our Dust (new de_dust2)

Arguably the quintessential CS:GO map, Dust II has been a classic since its first appearance. This map captures the essence of CS, and in its new release we would like to celebrate its purest form and smooth out the existing rough edges. Our goals for updating the map are as follows:
— Improved player readability throughout the map
— Improved clarity of the surrounding world, including all visible surfaces
- Improved visuals to match the look of most updated maps.

The new Dust II is currently available in beta and we look forward to your feedback. (Check out the link about using the beta). Below in the description you will find several important elements that have been changed. Feel free to use the sliders (on the official resource) to visually highlight the differences.

Bomb Site B - Citadel

Row excessive dark areas in the Tunnels was corrected by natural streams of light penetrating inside through the partially destroyed roof. The crashed car on the site itself was slightly moved, opening up more space for the player in that area. The hole in the wall, the so-called “Window,” has now been expanded, and the once difficult movement in this area has been smoothed out. And following this change, the design of the Scaffoldings was generally simplified, all unnecessary metal pipes were removed from there, blocking your orderly kills one by one. In addition, several electrical poles have been removed from the map border to reduce minor map distractions without compromising the visual fidelity of objects.

Bomb Site A - Hotel Aurora

Taking into account the opinions of the players, it should now become easier to open site A for the reason that the redrawn wall has replaced the dark doorways that spoil the view. Corner areas for catching enemies (length, ct) have also been improved, eliminating the annoying drain pipes.

Middle line

There have been a number of changes midway through the map, starting with improved lighting in the lower Tunnel to help catch those campers from dark corners.

Several other dark passages were also illuminated, and the "neither this nor that" door surface was replaced. With fewer nooks and corners of the map to get stuck in, players will have more time to focus on the things that really matter.

Appearance

While de_dust2's gameplay hasn't aged well over the years, its appearance needs a good artistic shake-up.
Now, Side B is the historic Citadel (Kasbah), under restoration, while Site A is a large bazaar and hotel (Hotel Aurore). Texture quality has been quadrupled and all community maps now support South Africa. Now for the bad news: two Pizza drive-ins have been removed from the map. The good news is they've been replaced by two dentist offices. Coincidence? Don't think.

New character models

The widely known Leet Krew, classic Dust II villains formerly known as the Durah Gang, have received bonuses to appearance to match the updated environment. These terrorist models have received improved texture quality to be more recognizable, cohesive and iconic; battle-hardened veterans of countless rounds of CS, and still hell-bent on world domination. You'll notice that some members of the revamped Leet Krew are regulars at the new Salon De Coiffeur.

Let's play!

Dust II has evolved over the years and is now the most balanced and iconic map in CS:GO. Based on this, we came to the decision to improve it, and not just stylize it and stuff it with a new design. And your feedback after studying the map in beta will help us understand whether our goal has been achieved, whether the necessary actions have been realized, and what our next steps are. After receiving your feedback on the visuals, what would you like to see in the future development of this map? We want to hear your opinion.

Despite the wide variety of maps in CS:GO, Dust 2 has always been a classic since the game's first release. The map contains the essence of everything CS, and with this new map we would like to honor its pure form by cleaning up the jagged edges.

The main goals when updating the map were:

  • Improve visibility of players throughout the map.
  • Check the movement around the world, including the logo.
  • Improve the visuals to match modern maps.

Dust 2 is now available in beta and we're looking forward to your feedback. Below you will see a few things that have been improved!

PLANT B - KASPAKH

A series of overly dark spots in the tunnels were viewed with natural light pouring in through the destroyed, torn off roof. The broken down car on the site was also slightly moved to allow players to move around more freely. The hole in the wall, the "Window", has been widened and movement around has become easier. Just beyond that, the Scaffold has been simplified with no metal pipes to get in the way of your next piece. Additionally, several electrical poles have been moved outside the playing space to remove unnecessary distractions without compromising visual fidelity.

PLANT A - HOTEL AURORA

Taking into account the player's opinion, entry frags on site A have been improved, since the back wall is now without dark doorways. Corner peaks have also improved with the removal of pesky drain pipes.

Broken cars on And now - one car with an increased number of players around and on it. Experienced players now won't have to worry about whether they're going to be there, and new players won't have to wonder if they'll get burned. Annoying physics-based detritus supports have also been replaced with more predictable static features such as weeds and rocks.

MIDL

On the central part of the map, the lighting was changed so that the campers were visible in a dark corner in the tunnel.

A number of other dark doorways were adjusted and the "neither here nor there" door covering was eliminated. With fewer alcoves to hang, you'll have more time to sweat over other important things.

IMAGE

Although gameplay Dust II doesn't seem to age well, the art needs a good sandblasting. Section B on the map is now historical Kaspakh under restoration, and site A is a bazaar and hotel. Texture resolution has been increased by four times, and support for North African feature models has been installed for all community map makers. Now, bad news— There are no more 2 pizza halls. Good news: 2 dental offices have replaced them. Coincidence? We don't think so.

NEW PLAYER MODELS

The infamous Leet Krew, classic terrorists of Dust II and formerly known as "Durah", have received a complete update to suit their updated environment. These Model Ts are enhanced, remastered in high definition to be more recognizable, cohesive and iconic; seasoned veterans of countless rounds of CS and still obsessed with world domination. You'll notice that some of the Leet Krew are regulars at the new Salon De Coiffeur.

LET'S PLAY!

Dust II has evolved over time into one of the most balanced and iconic maps in CS:GO. With that in mind, we decided to tweak it rather than do a complete redesign. Your beta feedback will help us check whether our initial goals were appropriate, were achieved, and what next steps should be taken. After receiving feedback on the visual update, what would you like to see next as the map continues its evolution? We are waiting for your response.

And in the comments, a few more screenshots of the new data 2 :)

On the night of October 11, 2017, a new revised version of the Dust 2 map was released. At the moment, the map is only available in the beta version of the game. We will tell you how to install and launch the new Dust 2 in this article.

How to install and run the new Dust 2?

The new Dust 2 has already been released on the main version of the game.

Translation of an article from the developers' blog.

Dust 2 was one of the few maps that remained largely untouched since its original release. The map fully reflects the essence of CS, and in this new version card, we wanted to emphasize its uniqueness.

The main goals of the developers during the development of the new version of the map:

  • Improved understanding of players' locations on the map.
  • Variety of different travel options.
  • Updated textures in accordance with the standards of modern maps.

Dust II is now available in the beta client, we look forward to your feedback.

Below you will find out a few highlights of what has changed in the new version of the map.

Point B - Kasbah.

We made the tunnel lighter than it was before, now the light penetrates through the broken roof. The crashed car has been moved slightly, allowing the player to move around more freely. The “window” in the wall became wider. In addition, some objects have been moved outside game card so that they do not distract from the game.

Point A – HOTEL AURORA.

We took into account the opinions of the players and made point A more free to move and removed objects that could distract or merge with other players (for example, the dark gate was removed).

Many “annoying objects” such as small rocks and the like have also been removed from the map.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On MID, the lighting near the lower tunnel has been changed.

A number of other dark doorways were changed and we did not remove doors anywhere.

While the gameplay on the Dust II map never seems to have changed, the real art needs a good treatment. Point B on the map is now the historical Kasbas (Arabic name for the citadel), and point A is the bazaar and the Aurora Hotel. The resolution of all textures has been increased fourfold. Now, the bad news is that 2 pizzeria establishments are no longer there. Good news: the pizzeria establishments have been replaced by 2 dental offices. Coincidence? Probably not (joke from the developers).

The infamous "Leet Krew" terrorist squad, the main villains of Dust II and formerly known as "Durah", have received a model update to match the updated map. We have improved the character models and added high resolution textures to be more recognizable, cohesive and iconic to seasoned veterans of countless rounds of Counter-Strike. Terrorists are still obsessed with world domination. Will you notice that some of the “Leet Krew” are regulars at the new Salon De Coiffeur?

Dust II will eventually develop into one of the most balanced and iconic maps in CS:GO. Your feedback will help us check whether our initial goals were correct, whether they were implemented correctly and what our next steps should be. After receiving feedback on the visual update for Dast 2, which map would you like to see get a new look next? We are waiting for your feedback!

Reaction of PRO players to the new de_dust2

  • #Zeus: That's it, the #NaVi team will have a party on this occasion.
    🇷🇺 #seized: de_navi is coming! 😍
    🇰🇿 #AdreN: Prepare your AIM SKILL, . 🤤
    🇫🇷 #apEX: French map is back! 😍
🇩🇰 #Magisk: This is great news!
    🇸🇪 #friberg: I'm ready for any Dust2.
    🇧🇷 #FalleN: HYPEEEE!
🇸🇪 #olof: Everyone just wants their first ban (card) to be removed. 🤔
🇩🇪 #tabseN: Yessss, our dreams are coming true. -de_nuke.
    🇧🇪 #ScreaM: This. ❤
🇩🇰 #MSL: I don't think Dust2 will be better than any map in the map pool. He is limited tactically and always has been. Obviously I haven't seen the update, but I doubt they can do it as it will bring many new tactical options.
🌍 GuardiaN: Nuke/Cbble are boring maps to watch, at least for me. Nuke feels like an unfinished map and Cbble is unbalanced.

Thousands of people who started with cs 1.5, 1.6 will definitely answer you that dust 2 is main game CS:GO and the entire line of games. No fy_pool_day, de_aztec and other iconic cards can compare with this one. And no matter what they say about this card, it is the one that underlies the game.

The only thing that disappoints about it is that many people play with 2 and do not use other cards.
Many thought (wanted) that give 2 would update not only the textures, but also change the boxes and stands, but what really?

What has changed on dust2

The purpose of Valve's update was:
1. Improve textures
2. Completely update the tactics used on the map.

Point B

Long

The parapet on which you can jump and check point A has been removed.
The car is now easily shot through

Short

1. It is now more difficult to throw a flash drive because the wall is now inconvenient for this.
2. The steps have become smaller and this makes it difficult to hide there.
3. The door is made of wood again and the damage is slightly increased.

A

On A, practically nothing has changed.

IN general update It'll be cool, but it won't add anything significant. Most of the adjustments and spreads remained the same as they were.
The usual change in textures is not such an interesting update that everyone was waiting for.
Most people thought that not only would the textures change, but they would also add new things that would perfectly decorate the map and make a huge difference.

P.s. the map is now 100% for terrorists. It is very difficult to hide CT and at the same time it is very easy to take point B because now it is easier to shoot people who are on B.

But it’s worth noting that Valve couldn’t update give 2 in a way that would change it significantly. All because the map is iconic and it’s stupid to change it just because people come.

How to play on the new dust (dust 2)
