The first episode of the second season begins several months after the end of the events of the 5th episode of the 1st season (the death of Lee) and continues more than 2 years after the end of the 5th episode of the 1st season. The main thing in the game is conversations and relationships between people.

What computer games do you know with an exciting plot?

The plot is the main component in games (which have at least some kind of plot). All players who fell in love with game worlds for their thoughtful plot have long wanted to influence in some way, to do what they want, to turn where they want, to kill whoever they want. It is these games that we will talk about today. You can influence the plot in different ways, you can simply change the cosmetic part of the plot, change some moments, and of course you can create a different, completely new ending to the game. All the games on our list will have these qualities, or some of them. (This top is based on my personal opinion and may differ from yours.)

Fifth place: Fable Anniversary

Morning in the village, with dad, mom and little sister nearby, it seemed like what could be better?! But at some point your village is attacked by hordes of bandits and robbers. You skillfully hide behind the fence and at that moment you notice that your village has burst into flames like " Christmas tree", the first thing I thought of main character, there was of course his family. In a rush, our boy runs to his house and finds his father dead. Having mourned his death, he notices that a bandit is rapidly rushing towards him, and, pressing his head, awaits death. But lo and behold, he is saved by a local master hero and taken to the school of heroes, where our character will have to undergo rebirth into a real hero of Albion. The game surprises with its nonlinearity; at the time of its release, there was a very meager selection of games with non-linear plot. And then a game appears in which you will not only be able to change elements of the plot, you will also be able to change the appearance of the hero depending on your actions (good and evil deeds), and your physique and beard will also change depending on the choice of the hero’s class. From this or that mission, public opinion will change towards you (people will respect or fear). And as a result, before the last task, your appearance will change beyond recognition (horns, red aura, flies, glowing eyes or white hair, a halo above your head and blue eyes). By the standards of the time period in which it was released, the game is very non-linear and therefore takes an honorable fifth place.

Fourth place: Dishonored

The country is plague-stricken, and you act in it as the main adviser and bodyguard of the queen and her daughter. Having sent you to other countries for help, the queen expected a more pleasant outcome of events, but still you were refused help, and with this you returned back to your hometown. After entering the harbor you are greeted by the queen's daughter named Emily who is happy new meeting with you and invites you to play. Soon you meet several representatives of the official authorities and then the queen herself. Having given her the letter, you notice that there are no nearby guards, and people can be seen running on the roofs of neighboring houses. Taking out your sword and pistol, you try to protect the queen, but alas, this does not work, the queen is killed, and the young princess is kidnapped. Soon the guards with influential officials come running to you and accuse you of murder and kidnapping of royalty. You are tortured in prison, and soon you receive a letter and a key to the cell, and try to break free in order to find the princess and help the rebels return her to power. The game is made in the genre of first-person stealth action. You have an incredible number of options to complete the game, almost every task will have two or more options for solving the problem. It is also possible to complete the game without killing anyone, which will affect the appearance of the city and the residents in general. For its non-linearity and the ability to complete the game without killing, Dishonored receives fourth place.

Third place: The Walking Dead

The next place in the top 5 non-linear games is given to The Walking Dead. The whole world is plunged into chaos due to the sudden appearance of a zombie virus. And in it you play the role of an ordinary surviving guy named Lee, and next to you is a girl you saved named Clementine. Your main task will be to reach safe place and perhaps find the little girl's parents. As the game progresses, other characters will join your group (Kenny, Katya, Duck, Carly, etc.). Each of the characters brings their own individual character to the game, making us worry about them or, on the contrary, hate them. You have to make choices in the game almost every minute, choosing the right dialogue options or performing the right actions. Unfortunately, all the choices placed before the players will only affect individual cutscenes and the attitude of other characters towards you. The finale may end with three possible endings, which will only be expressed in the form of a cutscene. You will have to make incredibly difficult decisions during the game, kill or save, help or harm, protect or insult, all this makes the non-linearity that we talked about earlier more interesting and fun. Due to its general nonlinearity and interesting, variable plot, the game deserves third place in our top.

Second place: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The huge world of the kingdoms of the North, filled with monsters and just bad people. In this world there is a small group of people, changed by mutations, who call themselves witchers, and are created to fight incredible hordes of monsters. You play the role of Geralt of Rivia, a witcher of the "Wolf" school, one of the last witchers on the ground. The main task of the third part of the game will be to find your adopted daughter Ciri and save her from the clutches of the Wild Hunt. Your friends and other good people will help you with this. An incredible number of entertaining quests, and an equally incredible variety of methods for completing these tasks. For example, let's look at one of the moments of the game, when you arrive in Velen, in order to find out from the locals about Ciri, in one tavern you meet a group of dirty bandits who, upon entering the tavern, immediately turned their gaze against you, here you have a choice , kill, ignore or befriend them. Depending on your decision, both the possibility of access to the baron of those places and the opinion of people in Velen about you will change. Also, after making a decision in this task in favor of ignoring, you can hear the conversations of these bandits on the topic of robbery and violence, and only then change your decision and kill them. For the incredible non-linearity of both the main plot and additional missions The game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt deservedly takes second place in our top.

First place: The Stanley Parable

The office is somewhere in the city center, or perhaps not. A large company, or perhaps not. And the Stanley office worker who spent his entire life pushing buttons that popped up on his monitor. But at one fine moment, the commands stopped coming to his monitor, and the main character decided to find out what was really going on. Leaving his office, he noticed that all the employees of his company had disappeared somewhere, and he was left alone. Next, he decides to go in search of answers to his questions, guided or not guided by a voiceover that told him where to go and what to do. The value of this game lies in its unique nonlinearity; you have a huge choice of what you want to do. You can listen to the announcer and go where he says, you can disobey him and go in the other direction, you can listen to him every other time, you can not listen at all, you can stand, you can turn back. And all this will lead you to one of several dozen game endings that will not be similar, and may even surprise you in some way. Due to such freedom of choice and non-linearity of the plot game The Stanley Parable takes an honorable first place in our top. Or doesn't it? It's up to you!

Well, that's all, I hope you agree with me about the games in this top. Good luck to you on the battlefields!!!

Wandering around the Internet, I found on PlayGround.ru the top 10 games with the most exciting story. All this was done through voting by site participants...

P.S. I don’t agree with some places... but alas. -_-

Endless rain, loud impacts on the water, a dark and complicated story with kidnappings, murders and sudden twists and turns... Well, how can you get past this? Quantic Dream always takes a very long time and carefully studies each dialogue, verifies every word in the angry tirade of the villains and does it at a quite decent Hollywood level. "Heavy Rain" would make a great movie!

“Interactive Drama,” however, also turned out great. First they paint us an almost ideal American dream - big house, high paying job, happy family. And then they sharply hit their face against the rough wall of reality, take away all the benefits of civilization and throw poor dad Ethan Mars to the very bottom of suffering and constant questions “Why did everything go wrong?”

Each scene with self-sacrifice is literally filled with that very “psychologism”, which more than once forces one to empathize with, albeit not real, but convincing virtual actors. Just cutting off a finger is worth it! It’s only for these “deep” and memorable moments that “Heavy Rain” is worth playing.

The French pioneers of the “interactive drama” genre are not destined to reach prizes. But it’s still nice that two games from Quantic Dream hit the top ten at once. So the studio is on the right track!

"Fahrenheit" touches the soul from the first minutes. The camera sweeps over cold and snow-covered New York, looks into an ordinary American diner - the performance begins! The main character’s hands are covered in blood, a corpse lies nearby, and his memory is gone! The screen, in the best traditions of modern cinema, is divided into two parts, showing how a policeman imposingly enters the cafe.

The nerves of the innocent “murderer” Lucas are slowly losing steam. Having hastily cleaned up the crime scene, he flies out of the restroom, leaves money for lunch and runs like a bullet to a taxi. The opening scene of Fahrenheit makes your jaw hit the parquet loudly, fill it with saliva and demand a continuation this very second.

Alas, by the end, “Fahrenheit” lowers the quality bar, throwing up some kind of “Matrix” with battles for “ main secret in the universe,” but... But this cannot overshadow all the bright moments that David Cage and the team gave in “Fahrenheit.” For which we thank him in particular and Quantic Dream in general.

To put it bluntly, the main storyline in Fallout was never that important. And what, in principle, is interesting there? The destroyed world with sparse cities and a small population, which always has a couple of tasks for a lonely wanderer, looked much more important and larger-scale.

This is what captivated everyone about the first two parts of "Fallout". Fallout 3 is proud of this too. Traveling around the world and doing seemingly optional, but very nice side quests You get carried away here much faster than the search for your father.

Handy people from the shelter will come in handy everywhere - one wastelander will ask you to help defuse (well, or detonate) an atomic bomb. Another will instruct the letter to be delivered to relatives, without warning, however, that the search for relatives will turn into a whole investigation. Almost a drug! Although there are not many quests, wandering around lifeless lands does not become any more boring. Fortunately, the constantly changing trees of dialogues and choices with the obligatory decrease/increase in the character’s karma help to maintain interest.

The Poles from CD Projekt not only managed to please the devoted Witcher fan club, but also made a game that would appeal to people far from the novels of the same name about the gray-haired hunter of evil spirits. The world and mythology created by the main “witcher” Andrzej Sapkowski was dragged by CD Projekt into the virtual world, flavored with a scattering of polygons and a fantasy spirit that captivates all those who like to wander through medieval villages and castles.

The rich system of forks in the dialogues also came in handy. What to do and which side to choose in a confrontation between several factions? We give answers to all these questions over the course of several chapters, wandering around the town of Vizima, checking the sewers for the presence of monsters, or wading through a disgusting swamp. Along the way, naturally, trying to unravel the tangle of intrigue and understand all the chaos going on around the royal throne.

In a word, The Witcher grabs you from the first minutes and doesn’t let go until the very end. final battle, where the fate of Geralt of Rivia will be decided.

Mafia

That it’s hard to tear yourself away from the canonical “Godfather” and that from “Mafia” are both treasures modern culture offer to plunge into criminal world, in which the Italian mafia brewed in the 30s and 40s of the last century. And at the same time, look at the ascent to the heights of the “family”, which quickly becomes dear and unique, from the very bottom of the hierarchical ladder.

After all, everything starts small. Apparently he helped a couple of bandits escape from their pursuers in his taxi and even earned some money. The idyll, however, will quickly fall apart and leave the main character Tommy no choice. As they say, either to the coffin or to the family that will warm and protect.

For several years, the boy will be engaged in robbery, contract killings and searching for moles who do not sleep and are always ready to stick a knife in the back. And playing cat and mouse and searching for black cats is always exciting! Honestly, Mafia is worth going through just for the strong and stunning ending. A little bit of life, truth and very impressive. There's still time before the release of Mafia 2, so if you missed Mafia, trust me, it's worth your time to fill in the gaps.

"BioWare" has always been different from other studios in that it can not only work out the main storyline to the smallest detail, but also create full-fledged worlds. With its own mythology, with its own rules, races, inhabitants and orders. Worlds in which you don’t just spend an hour or two after “hard work,” but in which you plunge headlong. You live, if you like.

"Dragon Age: Origins" did not drop the labor banner and continued the holy fantasy work begun by the Canadians back in "Baldur's Gate". The influence of the Forgotten Realms universe is felt from the very threshold, the kingdom of Ferelden pleases with its scale, and the wicked, as befits in " dark and scary little worlds, they try to frighten and tear apart the unwary wanderer. Several warring races only add color to the local universe and the relationships between the characters. It’s very, very difficult not to fall in love with Dragon Age: Origins.

All representatives of the GTA-like squad always have one story - a difficult ascent to criminal Olympus. Over the heads of competitors, over mountains of corpses and through dozens of robberies. The plot may be the same, but the difference is in the presentation. Some games manage to convey the atmosphere of dashing chases and gangster shootouts, others - not so much.

Of course, GTA4 belongs to the first category. Rockstar Games really succeeded in telling the story of immigrant Niko Bellic. The story has all the elements of a good crime drama. Chase? Available. Large-scale shootouts and clashes of interests of various gangs on the streets? That's right, it's on the list. Convoluted relationships between characters and obligatory betrayals? That's it, the obligatory set of plot moves is in place!

Well, don’t forget about the acting. Rockstar spent a lot of money on voice acting. And the stern and cynical Niko, played by Michael Hollick, is one of best characters throughout the history of GTA. This means something.

Bronze this time goes to theoretical physicists who are madly in love with saving the world, armed with one crowbar. Valve Software created an excellent story about a scientist who became an icon for a whole generation of players, and the attack on Earth by evil alien invaders, who soon enslaved weak humanity.

It seems to be not the most original story, but coupled with innovative technologies in 2004, Half-Life 2 en masse stole the hearts of more than one million people. But success, in fact, was built on the same silent Gordon Freeman and constantly wagging friends. However, coupled with dynamic and well-staged cut scenes, constant action and a very active narrative that literally drives forward and only forward, the second part of HL has become something more than just a game. You think what you want, but it was with Half-Life 2 that a new era in the development of shooters began. No more, no less.

The second game from BioWare in the top was much more fortunate. Several hundred grams of silver go to Canadian astronauts who study and sometimes save the galaxy from various misfortunes.

In two and a half games, Commander Shepard managed to fall in love with millions of fans of serious science fiction with elements of conspiracies on a universal scale and a war of interests of each of the races living in the universe. Mass Effect 2 grabs the player by the breasts from the starting line. A quiet and calm beginning in one minute turns into the destruction of Normandy and the death of the entire crew, leaving us with our jaws hanging to the floor and the question “What the hell is going on here?” on our faces. Meanwhile, the Cerberus organization is brought onto the stage, the deceased Shepard is revived and they begin to throw new questions at the players.

BioWare has had a bunch of answers ready for a long time and no one doubts that in the third part of Mass Effect all the threads will definitely lead to a logical ending. All that remains is to wait. BioWare has never let us down so far.

Fanfare, confetti, congratulations and a personalized golden cup are once again sent to the Ubisoft offices. "Assassin's Creed 2" was awarded high ratings and sales of millions not because of Ezio's beautiful eyes. The detailed recreation of 15th-century Italy, the corrected acrobatic component, and many more small strokes on the huge canvas played a role here.

And one of strong points"Assassin's Creed 2" is a plot that has matured and become stronger. If in the first part the entire narrative part quickly slipped to the level of “sat on a bench, killed, listened to a couple of meaningless phrases,” then in the sequel it became easier to watch Ezio’s story much more interesting. His path to becoming an assassin is paved through decades of honing his skills. A bully and bully, as Ezio is depicted on the threshold of his youth, over time turns into one of the central figures of the brotherhood of assassins, acquires new uniforms and takes revenge for his family, following in the footsteps. Templars. Whatever you say, revenge as a plot motivation sounds better than “find and bring an artifact.”

Valve has created a fun puzzle game with excellent game mechanics. It offers players not only a single-player game for the main character Chelsea, who has to escape from the Aperture laboratory, but also a co-op mode for two players. The main characters in it will be the robots Atlas and P-Body. The storyline of the co-op mode does not intersect with the plot of the single-player mode, which leads to unexpected endings.

One of the best games in history still evokes warm and nostalgic feelings among those who played it. And those who did not pass can do so for three main reasons:

  1. The huge map of Lost Haven is filled with diverse and magnificent places. Each area has a unique appearance, has its own unique atmosphere and even musical accompaniment.
  2. Basic gameplay can be summarized by simply saying that it consists of shooting and driving from a third-person perspective. However, in reality it offers much more: from a variety of missions to dialogues and interaction with many NPCs inhabiting the streets The City of Lost Heaven.
  3. An unusual and very beautiful main musical theme, created under the direction of the Czech composer Vladimir Simunek, and with the participation of the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra.

The only weak thing in the game is the imperfect AI of the heroes' enemies and companions. On the other hand, the fact that Los Have Haven's police officers are not geniuses further enhances the realism.
