Soviet tanks can generally be described as fast and powerful. Of course, they have their weaknesses - the sides of their hulls are usually not particularly reliable, and the accuracy of their guns is by no means the highest - but they are compensated by serious advantages in speed, thick frontal armor and a huge caliber of guns. Of course, all tanks are different, but if we describe them in general, we can say that they are all divided into two types - light and fast, which must drive up, shoot, drive away and shoot again while the enemy is turning around, and heavy ones, which are capable of taking one direct blow to the frontal armor and stay alive.

Now let's move on to a more detailed review of USSR tanks.

Light tanks of the USSR

Lungstanks Soviet Union- some of the fastest tanks in the game, which allows them to quickly mark enemies on the map and flank slower tanks of other nations. These tanks are difficult to hit effectively due to their angled armor, but take high damage when hit. The first tank of the Soviet branch is the light MS-1, the fastest and lightest tier 1 tank. The T-46 allows you to move to the middle class earlier, having as its followers the T-28, a fourth-rank middle class tank. As is clear from the text above, after the first light MS-1, USSR tanks developed along two lines. The first line contains BTs - fast tanks that can quickly accelerate and gain high speed, but have weak armor and cause little damage to enemies due to the low level of penetration in the installed guns. The second line, T, is more combat-oriented and has increased maneuverability and maneuverability, coupled with higher-caliber weapons. The downside is the speed is inferior to BT, and the same weak armor. The BT branch takes longer to develop to the middle class, but the first representative of this class in this branch is the famous T-34, which has good damage and speed indicators and, later, its improved version, the T-34-85, capable of fulfilling almost any role in battle . Medium tanks of the USSR

AverageUSSR tanks, according to many, are the best tanks of this class in the game. Why? Primarily due to their diversity and mobility in performing any task on the battlefield. The T-34 and KV-1 indicated above indicate the further development of medium tanks of the USSR up to the T-43 of the seventh rank - the T and KV branches, respectively, represent faster and more armored tanks. The T-43, on the other hand, combines the mobility of the T-branch and the armor of the KV branch, suffering in terms of penetration of its guns. The T-44 and T-54 tanks following it focus on mobility, speed and reduction in size while increasing damage output. From the T-54, the middle-class tanks of the Soviet branch again make a fork and at rank ten can be developed into the Object 140 or T-62A. The first tank of the KV branch, the KV-1, is good because its armor is the same in all places - this allows you to make it almost impenetrable, positioning it at an angle of 45 degrees to the enemy. Also, this tank can be equipped with a gun with a 122mm caliber, which will make it a powerful opponent even for the thickest tanks. But its disadvantages are low speed, low maneuverability, low accuracy and low visibility. If your team has fast tank scouts working well, then this will not be a problem - but if there is an enemy not marked on the map next to yours, then it will be much more difficult for you to aim at it. The KV-1 can be further developed into the KV-1S, its lighter and more mobile version, the KV-2, a machine for destroying tanks of any strength, and the “thick” destructive tank T-150. The difference between these three options is very critical - the KV-1S and KV-2 do not have the strongest armor, and the T-150 can stop almost any shots with proper positioning; The KV-1S is faster than the other two models, and the KV-2 is capable of firing 152mm (!) caliber shells. In general, all three of these models are distinguished by high-caliber guns, but at the same time they have a low reload speed when firing from high-caliber guns, and only the T-150 has sufficiently strong armor (while losing maneuverability and speed). The KV-13 tank, “evolving” from the KV-1S tank, is moving to the IS branch - a fairly durable heavy tank with excellent maneuverability and speed. The IS emanating from it is distinguished by the same mobility, but at the same time is capable of quickly firing powerful 122mm caliber projectiles, which makes it extremely dangerous in close combat. Further IS models, IS-3 and IS-8, continue development in this direction - high maneuverability and speed make them the most mobile tanks of their rank, and their powerful weapon penetrates the armor of any opponents. The price is weak armor and low health of the tank. The final development option for this branch is the IS-7 rank ten tank. The IS-7 has high speed and good turret armor, and the gun of this tank is capable of penetrating thick armor. Low accuracy and low speed will not allow this tank to destroy enemies from afar, but it will do an excellent job of holding the enemy. The KV line, meanwhile, is developing along a different path - the KV-3 and KV-4 tanks, following the T-150, have the most powerful armor, but completely sacrifice speed. Their task is to hide allies behind them and divert fire, as they are able to withstand attacks of almost any power if positioned correctly. But you need to understand that the speed and maneuverability of these tanks are very low - you most likely won’t be able to escape in case of danger, so the maximum maneuvers available to you when the enemy’s overwhelming force advances is to position your tank at such an angle as to receive less damage. The next tank in this line, ST-I, is distinguished by a powerful turret and good side armor of the hull, as well as high accuracy and caliber of guns. It is faster than previous models, but not so significantly that you can change battle tactics based on speed - rather, you need to understand that such a tank is more designed for medium-range battles due to its shooting accuracy. The final tank of this branch, the IS-4, is the heaviest and slowest tank in the USSR. It can withstand damage from almost any direction and often has projectiles ricocheting off it - but it also moves extremely slowly. IS-4 is a fortress tank that serves as a shield for any other allied tanks and is capable of inflicting average damage to the enemy.

USSR tank destroyer

The first tank destroyer of the Soviet Union opens at the second rank, immediately after the MS-1 light tank - and this is the AT-1 tank destroyer. It is small and very mobile - and at the same time deals very good damage to enemies at high distances. The main problem is that it itself explodes after one good hit or a couple of not very accurate ones, so even light tanks (and perhaps especially light tanks due to their speed) will big problem for AT-1 at close range. Its descendant, the SU-76, is essentially a stronger copy of the AT-1, but when fully upgraded, significantly exceeds its ancestor in fire rate. The next tank destroyer, the SU-85B, is the perfect “sniper” - its powerful gun and very high mobility guarantee a hit on any enemy, but its almost complete lack of armor makes it extremely vulnerable, especially to explosive shells. Further “evolutions” of the USSR tank destroyer are not particularly different from those indicated - the speed and penetration of shells increases, the level of armor is reduced - right up to the Object 704, which unexpectedly loses speed and guidance accuracy, but acquires powerful armor. The tactics of playing for this tank destroyer change significantly - instead of constant maneuvers, you need to choose the most protected position, face the enemy with frontal armor and aim accurately. In connection with the recent good news that WoT Blitz released on PC (though only for Win10), I decided to make a visual comparison of our classic version games WoT With Blitz" ohm, as well as discuss both games and their gaming problems. To begin with, I will express my opinion about both games.

Regular "potato" tanks I don't like it. This game is frustrating and not fun. Since I can’t bear to research and buy all the tanks in the game myself (due to the lack of balance and the presence of such cacti in the research branches that I want to cry), I played on the test of version 9.15.

This version is a small breakthrough in good side, because the changes in it are all positive (with the exception of the region 54 nerve), and I hope that future patches will only be better. But what’s sad is that the main gaming problems 9.15 doesn't solve it. Where is the promised nerf art? Where are the cactus tanks like M5 Stewart, M7, AMX40?

After testing those tanks that I had a passion for (like STB-1, T-62A, RU251, jdPzE100), I realized that I’d better forget about this game until better times.

I like absolutely everything about this game. There are little things that irritate me, but overall the game is just amazing! And there is a balance, and a starting bonus, and new cards. I can praise the game for a very long time, but you won’t be satisfied with words. So if you have Win10, go to the store and download WoT Blitz for free. You won't regret it.

1. Graphics

WoT

Of course, the graphics of the original WoT are head and shoulders above those in Blitz. Good shaders, support for DirectX11 in 9.15, HD models of some tanks - it's all done on good level. 4 points out of 5, since there are no HD maps (which are already available on the Xbox360 version), no HD skyboxes, or new effects.

WoT Blitz

In Blitz, the graphics are significantly worse (relative to the realism that WoT strives for). But I don’t dare call her bad. Yes, there are no HD models, shadows are not as detailed, lighting and highlights are not as good, etc. This graphic is in a different category. Like the graphics in Borderlands, Torchlight 2 and similar games: they look a little cartoonish. A toy or something. And I even like it, because the original WoT will never come to realism. The visual part of Blitz is pleasing to the eye, a very pleasant and soft picture. In general, I give WoT Blitz graphics 3 out of 5, since it will be more objective. But the feel is that both games are pleasing to the eye.

2. Game physics

WoT

At 9.14 (or maybe earlier, I don’t remember) new physics and a new physics engine were introduced. At 9.15 we more or less brought this to balance (since at 9.14 the cars turned over very often, as if they were made of plywood, and they also removed the sticking of tanks to each other). In general, physics at 9.15 (test) is pleasant. But there are little things that are very annoying. Like intangible gun barrels, the twitching of tanks in the distance, the mechanics of flaring up the enemy. I rate physics 4.5 out of 5.

WoT Blitz

In WoT Blitz, the physics are like from version 9.0 of ordinary tanks - very familiar, without any surprises. In short, I didn't notice any differences. I also like this physics, because in this case it has a positive effect on the gameplay, so 4 out of 5 points.

3. Gameplay

The general type of gameplay of these games is similar: tank battles with a time limit on different small maps. But there are also key differences, which I will now discuss.

WoT

In regular WoT, in terms of gameplay, everything is very, very dull. There is almost no variation in the game, the cards really get boring. I’m already silent about how wretchedly they are dug up over and over again, or generally removed good cards from the game. What’s surprising is that the plot of the game is the same! The main gameplay problems are artillery, maps and balance. And another carload of unpleasant little things. These factors are key problems in the game that people in the WG office seem to have no idea about.

How does everything happen in the game? Battles of 15 vs 15 tanks on a 600m\1km map. Let's look at the cards.

This is a problem; sometimes there really isn’t enough space for tanks. And the cards themselves - some of them are so crookedly made that there is no balance between respawns. Even according to statistics - 45% from one and 55% from another republic.

For example, let's take Ruinberg . The central street is tilted towards the upper respawn, there is a shot along the central street in the save. This is not the case on the opposite side. Why? Let's take another card: Laceville . From the lower spawn, the entire city and the church are shot at, since it is turned towards this spawn. This is very unbalanced! More questions about cards: what for 2 identical cards like Fire Arc And Prokhorovka ? Why was it removed? Dragon's Spine And Overlord ? There were good cards, in my opinion, although there was some variability in the game.

The second problem - and this is indirectly related to the cards. This is artillery. It shouldn’t exist at all, and if it should, there should be a remedy against it. This is the most unbalanced, most terrible and wretched class of the game. Artillery simply does not allow other classes to play normally, especially with the current accuracy in the game. Even the heaviest TTs cannot tank shells flying from above. Because of this, the relevance of many cars and the variability of the game are simply annihilated. How do you tank art on a map like Robins on E100, for example? In general, a lot of words were said on the topic of artillery, a lot of monitors were broken, etc. You already understand everything, I think, so let’s move on.

The third gameplay problem is balance. But we’ll talk about it a little lower, in a separate section. Now I want to draw your attention to gaming trivia, which sometimes get in the way.

I'll start with consumables. In WoT there are 3 slots for consumables of all types. When using a consumable, it is not restored in battle, and this is inconvenient. You only have 1 chance, for example, to repair the gusli or something else, and there are additional places to buy. there are no consumables. Considering the artillery (it almost always shoots down the harp, and if it’s a level 6 FV, you won’t make it to the TT alive) - this is especially inconvenient.

Another problem is the possibility of teamkill. It shouldn't exist at all, it really interferes with the gameplay. He accidentally hit his own and killed him. And sometimes there are such allies - they test the gun on their own. Usually it ends in a drain.

Overall conclusion: balance 2 out of 5 points.

WoT Blitz

But here there is complete order. The battles are 7 on 7, the maps are small in size, but for 7 tanks this is what you need. And what’s remarkable is that only 3 cards are from the original game, the rest are new! There are 16 cards in total, but there is a variety of play on them. You never know where your allies will go, and you yourself are free to choose your own direction. All maps are very balanced, each map has its own “fishing” spots. In general - complete freedom.

The most important thing is that Blitz does not have artillery as a class, and this is the biggest advantage over the original game. The remaining 4 classes have been rebalanced and play in complete harmony, but more on that below.

Of the gameplay features - very convenient sight with the enemy’s armor indicator, recharge (90s) of all consumables during battle, special slots for additional. consumables such as supplementary rations (equipment) and for ammunition. I was very pleased new system with crew: it is common for all tanks. Bought new tank- you teach the crew to ride it, but the skills are not lost.

The gameplay itself can be assessed as active, variable and interesting. And you can tank, and spin the TT and AT, and shoot from afar. Overall I rate the gameplay 4.5 out of 5. The minus was due to the fact that (for some reason) the sight was in sniper mode It’s a little flimsy, and it feels like the tower is barely rotating, and another inconvenience is the interface in the hangar. I don’t like everything, I hope they will optimize it.

4. Game Balance

I wrote above about the balance of cards in WoT, but I’ll repeat something here.

In short, there is almost no balance. There is a semblance of balance that results from the fact that the team has both crayfish and benders. If the tank is a cactus, but the tank is driven by an extra, someone may shoot it, but this does not mean that the tank fits into the game. The problem of balance is +- 2 levels of battles, and this is very disturbing for certain vehicles.

The most powerful balance change in the game is the introduction of gold for silver. The introduction of new (as now) accuracy also greatly changed the balance of the game. Armor has lost its role; at the moment there are very few tanks in the game tanking their classmates. You see the TT - it loaded gold and destroyed it. You can tank something, but tanking gold is another matter.

If we describe all the specific aspects of balance, then we should start with tanks. I believe that at the moment half the tanks are unbalanced. The 3-caliber rule needs to be removed altogether, it’s just some kind of wildness. A 170mm AP projectile can also ricochet off a 40mm armor plate.

Regarding the health and armor of tanks. The gap between levels 3-4-5 is colossal. When 3 gets to level 5, it's very bad. If you are skilled, you can get out, but usually you are cannon fodder. Like most 7 with 9, and 6 with 8.

The damage of tanks is also often disproportionate to the level. A hatzer with 270hp has 350 cumulative damage from a howitzer. This is a classmate one-shot in almost any case, let alone level 3.

There are a lot of “cacti” in the game, such as M5, M3Lee, M7, AMX40, T-50, etc. They should cut down the level of battles and upgrade them. The problem with classes is that LT needs to remove the high level of battles. And since the technique is weak, it also throws one level higher. What joy is this? And they practically don’t bend it like that, and who knows how to play the LT. I won’t describe everything else; read about the problems of tanks in WoT on my blog.

If we talk about maps, many maps are unplayable due to the lack of artillery saves. On Malinovka how will you hide? And on Prokhorovka ? They remove good cards and don't add new ones. Everything is bad with the cards in general.

My final balance score is 2 out of 5 points. I won’t rate it 1, but there are some good things.

WoT Blitz

Balance - strong point Blitz. Everything about this game is wonderful, as I said before. The most important decision is +-1 level of fights. This is simply wonderful! You will never suffer in this game, and given the 7 vs 7 mode, you can easily drag it alone.

There is a balance in HP and damage - damage and DPM are reduced, HP is increased (this applies to levels 1-6). You can feel the armor in the game; few people use gold because of the super convenient sight. There is almost always enough BB breakout, it all depends on your skill, and not on gold.

The balance of cards is available - everything is played very quickly, there are no “bending” or vice versa respawns. You can always run away, and tank, and spin.

If we talk about vehicle classes, they are all playable and interesting. It has never happened that a tank could not do anything against the enemy.

In general - 5 out of 5 points for balance, I really like everything and so far I don’t see any problems at all.

Heavy tanks dominate the game. They have to pay something for good alpha damage and armor, for example, maneuverability and visibility, but many TTs are doing well with these parameters too. Next come PT. It’s surprising that in tournament setups there are more of them than STs, who sometimes aren’t even on the team at all.

7 most popular Blitz Twister Cup tanks.

The IS-7 is the most popular tank not only in the tournament, but also in the game. It has the best armor and speed of a medium tank. The 2.5 tanks in the average setup at the tournament are the IS-7. In some battles, out of 14 players, 8 were on the Soviet heavyweight. If the Maus, Object 268 and IS-4 among the most popular tanks are not surprising, then the appearance of the Bat.-Cahtillon 25t in the ranking in fifth place is a surprise. The Frenchman's firepower leaves much to be desired, but he can effectively play for the team if used correctly.

Of the 24 Tier X tanks, 8 have never been seen in tournament setups: FV215b, T110E5, T-62A, FV4202, E50 ausf. M, T110E3, AMX 50 Foch (155) and Object 263. All of these tanks have better counterparts with better characteristics. It's a pity for the T-62A and its Soviet counterpart, the Object 140 - from the most frequently encountered tanks, they have turned into outsiders. Object 140, by the way, was used in the game only once.

Based on statistics, the universal setup for patch 4.4 looks like this: IS-7, IS-7, IS-4, Maus, AMX 50B, Bat.-Chatillon 25t, Object 268.

Strand dominance can be viewed in different ways. Even the leaders of the esports community disagree.
