RPG Dragon Age Series. RPG Dragon Age Series Take advantage of tactical pauses in difficult battles
Dragon Age: Inquisition – role-playing computer game from the Canadian studio “Bioware”, published on November 18, 2014.
In this game we have to take on the role of the Inquisitor - the head of an ancient order that is being reborn from scratch. The game has the opportunity to occupy fortresses, make weapons and armor according to drawings, develop an order and restore the broken world order.
1) The plot of the game.
The conclave of the Church, gathered to stop the war between magicians and templars, ended in tragedy - a powerful explosion occurred in the temple where the parties gathered, in which everyone died, including the High Priestess, who organized the meeting. Scouts of the resurgent Inquisition found the only survivor. He doesn’t remember anything, and a strange mark burns on his hand. They offer him to close the gap in the temple. This proposal turns out to be in his interests - the mark on his hand grows along with the hole in the sky, and gradually kills him. Having closed the gap, he falls unconscious and comes to his senses only three days later.
2) Fortresses.
In addition to the headquarters of the Order, in some regions there are fortresses that can be captured and set up an Inquisition camp there. In each such camp, in addition to the quartermaster and tents for rest, there are one or more merchants, as well as workbenches for the manufacture and modification of weapons and armor. There are three such fortresses in total. To occupy the fortress you need to knock out enemies from there and raise the flag of the Inquisition.
3) Craft.
On the way, sometimes you come across equipment drawings, from which you can recreate weapons, armor, as well as parts of armor and weapon parts. The higher the level of armor, the better the item will be. Each drawing has several cells:
A) Main cell - determines the level of armor (for armor) or damage (weapons), as well as the element of damage (staves only)
B) Protection – determines elemental stability.
B) Attack (weapon only) – determines the attack parameter
D) Support – adds a certain number of units for any parameter (depending on the class)
E) A slot for an excellent item - sometimes on your travels you can come across materials “touched by the Shadow”. These materials are used to change the properties of an item: give it some special feature or increase its characteristics.
The armor class depends on the character's class: light armor is worn only by magicians, medium - only by robbers, heavy - only by warriors. However, each class has a special material that removes class restrictions.
The higher the material level, the better performance they provide.
4) Development of the Inquisition.
By closing gaps and completing tasks in locations, you will receive two unique “currencies”: influence and power of the Inquisition.
Influence is measured in a finite number and is spent on completing tasks and progressing through the plot. The more complex the task or the higher the level of the location, the more influence points will be required to complete it. Also, the higher the level of the location, the more difficult the enemies there are.
The power of the Inquisition “swings” according to the same principle as the level of the characters. When the strength of the Order moves to a higher level, you receive one specificity point, which can be spent on developing the Inquisition. There are 4 branches in the development menu: troops, reconnaissance, communications and Inquisition.
The army branch develops the paramilitary Inquisition, making it an organization with a military bias. However, you will have to spend a few points in this branch, even if you plan to develop another specificity:
A) Sketches – in the troop branch there are three items that allow you to obtain blueprints for all character classes. It should not be neglected, since over time, not only the Inquisitor, but also his companions will need new equipment.
B) Concentration - gives access to the second and third levels of concentration (a special type of character resources that allows you to use unique abilities from specialization branches).
C) Branch for branching dialogues (starts with the word “Knowledge”) - allows you to open new options in dialogues.
The intelligence branch develops the Inquisition's spy network. This makes the Order an intelligence organization. There are also several points worth investing in:
A) Thread for additional answer options
B) Research branch - for research you get more experience and strength of the Inquisition
C) Advanced scouts - a useful branch that marks quarries and sawmills on the map, which will be useful for equipping the Order’s new fortress.
D) Skillful hands are an extremely useful trait that allows you to open even the most cunning locks.
The connections branch develops the diplomacy of the Inquisition. These are, first of all, acquaintances in high society. Development along this path makes the Inquisition a political organization. There are also several branches here that are worth investing in anyway:
A) Increasing backpack volume
B) The appearance of new options in dialogues
C) Short list - a branch that allows you to buy exclusive goods from merchants.
The Inquisition branch strengthens it from the inside, making it more united and more combat-ready. There is also one item that is worth investing in; it increases the number of potions, bombs or elixirs you can carry.
5) As in previous games in the series, you can take three companions with you. In “Inquisition” their choice is quite wide:
- Cassandra Pentagast is the right hand of the High Priestess, the heroine of the Orlais empire, the Seeker of Truth, one of the founders of the new Inquisition.
- Varric Tetras is a dwarf and writer. Witness the beginning of the war between magicians and templars. He practically never parts with his crossbow.
- Solas is an elf, renegade mage, and expert in the Shadow. Knows a lot about the Breach and the Shadow in general.
- Vivien is the sorceress of the imperial court. He adheres to orthodox views, and therefore will not approve of actions that do not fit into the dogmatic view of the Church.
- Sera is an elf, one of the leaders of an organization fighting the tyranny of the nobility. He is deathly afraid of magic and everything connected with it. Sharp tongue.
- Iron Bull is a Qunari, a member of an organization that hunts mercenaries and renegades, and the commander of the Fighting Bulls squad.
- Cole is a spirit of compassion who has taken the form of a young man. Approves when the Inquisitor helps someone. Doesn't get along too well with Cassandra and Vivienne.
- Dorian Pavus is a mage from the Tevinter Empire. He hates Venatori fanatics, so he approves of their extermination.
6) The Inquisitor also has three advisors at his disposal to help him complete his tasks.
- Cullen Stanton Rusenford is a former templar. One of the first members of the Order recruited by Cassandra. Leads the army of the Inquisition.
- Leliana is the left hand of the High Priestess. One of the founders of the new Inquisition. Heads the intelligence of the Order.
- Josephine Montilier is Leliana's longtime friend and diplomat. Helps to establish alliances with influential people.
The editors of Gmbox have prepared a collection of basic tips for the game. Although BioWare quite clearly reveals the main subtleties of the gameplay of its new project, sometimes the developers do it at the wrong time. We decided in advance to arm you with the most important information so that there are no problems with conquering Dragon Age: Inquisition.
First visit Dragon Age Keep
Unfortunately, you will not be able to transfer saves from previous games in the series to Inquisition. However, this does not mean that all merits have sunk into oblivion - no one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten. The results of decisions made in and can be restored using the Dragon Age Keep service. Whether the Gray Guardian from the original DA survived, how the conflict between elves and werewolves was resolved, which side Hawk took in DA2 and much more - all these parameters can be recreated in Dragon Age Keep. All important decisions will affect the game world in Dragon Age: Inquisition in one way or another. In addition, you have an excellent opportunity to refresh your memory of the main events of the previous parts.
Choose your batch composition carefully
The personnel issue is of great importance in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Most of the time you will travel around the game world in the company of three companions. It is important to ensure that the batch is balanced. There must be a warrior with a shield - he must divert the attention of enemies to himself. It is highly desirable to have at least one mage and a robber: the first can support allies or temporarily disable enemies, and the second deals a lot of damage. The last place can be given to the one you like best. At the very beginning of Inquisition, you will be given a balanced squad: it will include the tank warrior Cassandra, the mage Solas and the robber Varric. Later the composition of the party can be changed.
Try to develop your characters so that their abilities complement those of their allies
In the game, you can accept up to three mage allies into the Inquisition: Solas, Vivien and Dorian. You shouldn’t develop them according to the same template - say, invest all your skill points in pyromancy. Let every wizard be a master of his own school - spirit, lightning, cold, and so on. The same is true for warriors and robbers. Choose your party members and their abilities so as not to repeat yourself. There is strength in variability.
Keep three different staves for magicians
While exploring the world of Inquisition, you will encounter magical barriers - they usually block the path to something interesting. To destroy them, the wizard must attack the barriers using staff shots. The difficulty is that there are three types of magical barriers: fire (red), ice (blue) and spiritual (purple). They only take damage from attacks of the opposite element: fire deactivates ice and vice versa, and electric attacks will help against the spirit barrier. If you don't want to miss anything, then keep three staves with different elements in your inventory.
Level up the “Skillful Hands” perk as soon as possible
In Inquisition you develop not only characters, but also an entire organization - the Inquisition. By completing quests, you increase its level and gain access to special perks. We strongly recommend that you be among the first to level up “Deft Hands” (Fine Tools) in the “Secrets” category. This ability allows all robbers to pick difficult locks, behind which valuable loot is usually hidden.
Take advantage of tactical pauses in difficult battles
With the right party and the appropriate level, most battles in Dragon Age: Inquisition can be completed without using a tactical pause. But sometimes there are battles in which one second can change the course of the entire battle. In them, the pause mode is critical. When things get tough, switch to a tactical view, think, plan, give instructions to your subordinates - and so on until the bitter end. It will take longer, but the chances of success are much higher.
Camp while traveling
We advise you to start exploring a new location with one important thing - visit the places where you can set up camp. You won't regret your time. Firstly, you can quickly move between them - this will be useful when completing side quests. Secondly, in the camps you can rest and replenish your supply of health potions. You will remember this when, in the midst of your travels, you suddenly find yourself in a difficult battle and without healing vials.
Talk to everything that can talk
Veterans of BioWare games already know this, but everyone else should take this rule into account too. Inquisition has a huge variety of creatures that can carry on a conversation. Communication with them will help you better understand the world of Dragon Age, learn about the relationships between the characters, and also receive many quests. This is especially true for your allies - they can tell you a lot of interesting things. We recommend that after each big mission you communicate with all your party members: this way you won’t miss the chance to increase (or decrease) your ally’s reputation, receive a task from him or see interesting situations - for example, how Cassandra beats Varrick in a rage.
Collect useful resources
You will constantly come across mines with valuable metals and all kinds of plants. Don’t be lazy to spend time collecting them: in Inquisition this happens quite quickly, and the benefits are enormous. Firstly, with their help you can create new or improve existing equipment. Secondly, sets of resources are needed to level up the Inquisition. Thirdly, with their help you can complete some tasks. Fourth... it's just addictive.
While you're slaying dragons and saving the world by the sweat of your brow, your advisors are chilling in the fortress. To get the most out of your time in Dragon Age: Inquisition, you need to keep them busy regularly. Return to base often and give instructions in the meeting room. Your agents can raise money to support the Inquisition, settle political differences, make useful contacts, obtain equipment for the party, and much more. Each advisor takes a certain amount of time to complete a task - from a couple of minutes to several hours. The counter runs in real time, so we recommend doing the most difficult and lengthy tasks before leaving Inquisition. When you return, the advisor will be ready to report.
