To increase a character's power, you can inlay his equipment with special stones. Read how to do this and where to get stones in this article.

Most pieces of equipment (except for jewelry and belts) have slots for inlay stones. You can find out the number of slots by the number of lines in the item description. In this example in the screenshot, the item has 2 slots for stones.

Stones come in different grades and are intended for different types of equipment - stones for gloves, shoes, etc. What item the stone is suitable for is indicated in its description. Stones can fall out of equipment when a character dies - the lower the grade of the stone, the greater this probability. The grades in ascending order are unusual, rare, unique and epic.

To insert a stone into an item, call the Black Spirit and select the inlay menu. Then select an item from the bag and a stone to insert. Only stones suitable for this item will be available for selection, so you can’t go wrong here.

You can remove stones from an item by calling up the same menu and right-clicking on them. The stone will disappear. To save the stone when extracting it, you need an item from the game store - Black Spirit Essence.

If you have the essence, you can safely remove the stone from your equipment with the help of a blacksmith. Go to the blacksmith, select the extraction menu, and then the inlay stone extraction menu. Place the saving stone in the cell opposite the stone you want to keep and click on the eject button on the right.

Inlay stones can be obtained as loot from monsters, as a reward for some tasks, and can be created using alchemy. In addition, any stone can be crushed through the materials processing menu (L) and obtained, the amount depends on your Processing skill and grade of the stone.

Special tasks will help you learn the history of the world. You can get your first mount at level 16 for a quest from the Black Spirit. Good sets of equipment and a certain amount of experience for completing tasks will be pleasant additions to an interesting storyline. The equipment you receive for quests is not bad at all and will serve you well until you lose unique armor or weapons from elite bosses, or don't make these things yourself.

As the level increases, the satellite will become stronger and, after going through several stages of transformation, not a trace will remain of the small mysterious black cloud, it will take on a different form.

The Black Spirit will periodically give you tasks to kill elite bosses. Completing these tasks will require you to have a good knowledge of the character and combat tactics. The acquired skills will be useful to you in the future game in joint campaigns with other players against raid bosses.

Reinforcement and inlay

When the first artifact is found and examined, the Black Spirit will change shape for the first time and two useful opportunities will open up for you: inlaying precious stones and strengthening equipment using the energy of black stones (“sharpening”).

To strengthen your equipment, just put the right thing to the inventory, call the spirit ("/" key), click on "Strengthen" (sword icon), find the desired item and a black stone (to strengthen armor and weapons, different types of stones are needed), then click the "Strengthen" button.

In order to inlay stones, you must use the green button, which shows a glowing stone.

Skill Boost

As the level increases, the Black Spirit's capabilities will expand and thereby increase your combat effectiveness. The basis of the game's combat system is the character's skills, thanks to which you can inflict damage on hostile players and monsters. In addition, some of the hero's abilities allow you to obtain useful effects or even evade enemy attacks. Let's consider distinctive features skills in game Black Desert.

• Learning skills

To master any ability, you need a sufficient number of skill points. To obtain them, you need to destroy monsters or complete certain tasks.

• There are two ways to learn skills:

1. Independent. You can open the skill menu anywhere game world by using
press “K” and select the ability you want to learn. You will spend 3 units on this
energy.
2. With the help of a trainer. In almost any large settlement you can contact an NPC
Trainer>, which will also help you learn skills, but will not cost

Passive skills give you additional parameters and are valid all the time from the moment they are learned. Active skills can be used using special keys (combinations and shortcuts), which are indicated in the description of the ability, as well as using a special panel on which you can place the skill you are interested in.

It is worth considering that you can use some abilities only after you have previously used other skills. Thus, a bunch of certain abilities form combo techniques. Such skills cannot be dragged to the quick access menu and can only be activated using keystrokes. How to use ability bundles is indicated in their description.

Some techniques can be used when riding if you equip the horse with stirrups. Also, most of them have an additional effect, which is indicated in blue in the skill description.

• Skill Effects

Combat Black system Desert provides several options for enhancing the basic attack. One of them is the use of special effects in battle, such as “Attack from behind”, which deals additional damage.

- Dazed: Causes the enemy to freeze for a short time.
- Tossing: Throws the enemy into the air, rendering him defenseless.
- Capture: Allows you to grab an enemy, after which you can throw him, causing
additional damage, or make you vulnerable to attacks from your allies.
- Pushing away during a knockdown: Knocks back an enemy on the ground.
- Knockback during flight: When this effect triggers, the enemy in
air will be discarded.
- U-turn: Allows you to turn your opponent's back to you to deal extra damage.
- Attraction: Pulls all affected enemies towards the hero
skill.

• Tips for learning skills

It is recommended to plan ahead to study abilities. However, there is no need to strive to learn them all, spending precious skill points on skills that you will not use either in PvP or PvE battles. For example, if you decide to turn your archer into an exclusively ranged fighter, then there is no need to spend money on upgrading the melee skill tree. It would be more correct to accumulate skill points to learn new abilities, according to the chosen direction of development.

Awakening skills

Black Desert has a special system that allows you to enhance the abilities of characters, giving them some additional effect. Once you reach level 48, contact the Black Spirit to begin your first awakening. After that, at each level you will be able to awaken one of your abilities. The effects of awakening can be either immediate or lasting over a period of time. For example, you can get HP regeneration when attacking or an increase in the amount of experience gained for a certain period. With this in mind, it is recommended to awaken frequently used skills to take full advantage of all the benefits of awakening.

• Reset Wake

However, sometimes it may happen that the resulting effect does not suit you, and you want to change it to something else. To do this, you will need the “Skill Awakening Reset” item. To reset the awakening, summon the Black Spirit, click the “Awakening Skills” button, and then go to the “Skills to Reset” tab. Select the required ability and click the “Reset Knowledge” button.

After this, the skill can be awakened again and, possibly, get a different effect.

Black Spirit's Wrath

Black Spirit's Wrath is an ability you automatically gain at level 30. Using it, you will significantly increase the damage of some spells, which may require 100 or 200% charge to cast.

The current level of anger charge can be found out thanks to a special indicator, which is located to the right of the character’s status bars. Charges accumulate during battle: one charge for destroying an enemy and two for receiving damage.

Strengthening skills that can be fueled by the rage of the Black Spirit occurs after accumulating the necessary supply of rage, and the accumulated charge is consumed. Otherwise, the skill deals standard damage. The maximum amount of anger that one player can accumulate is 100%, and therefore, to accumulate 200% of the charge, the help of other players is required. The charge can be transferred to another player in the same group with you using the ‘X’ button.

It is worth considering that when transferring 100% of the charge, the other player receives only 50%. Therefore, this function must be used twice to increase the charge from 100% to 200%.

Also, sometimes the charge can be absorbed, enhancing certain skills. To absorb, press the ‘Z’ key.

Strengthening equipment

After the Black Spirit acquires its second form (after completing the quest “Traces of Edan”), you will have the opportunity to enhance your equipment with the energy of black stones, thanks to which it basic characteristics will increase significantly.

• Regular Gain

To enhance weapons and armor, you need the appropriate types of black stones. Power-up stones can be obtained by completing certain tasks, picked up from the carcass of a killed monster, and also created using alchemy.

The amplification process is as follows:
1. Place the required piece of equipment in your inventory.
2. Summon the Black Spirit using the ‘/’ key, and while talking with him, click on the “Strengthen” button,
to go to the equipment enhancement interface.
3. Next, right-click on the equipment that we want to strengthen and the required stone to
move them to the gain window.
4. Click on the “Strengthen” button.

In this way, you can guarantee that your equipment will be strengthened to a certain limit (+7 for weapons and +5 for armor). With further enhancement, there is a possibility of failure, and if this happens, the black stone will disappear and the maximum strength of the item will decrease by 5 points. A kind of consolation for a failed enhancement is that you will receive an increased probability of success for the next enhancement (this bonus is reset after a successful enhancement). After a series of unsuccessful enhancements, it is recommended to restore the maximum strength of the item by repairing it.

• Precise Gain

After overcoming the guaranteed “barrier” of enhancing equipment, another method of improving it becomes available, which is called “Safe Enhancement”. The peculiarity here is that the item of equipment is strengthened with 100% probability, however this action consumes a significant amount of black stones and also reduces the maximum durability of the item. The higher the enhancement level, the more maximum durability the item will lose.

• Enhance Jewelry

The process of enhancing jewelry is different from enhancing other equipment. For this type of improvement there is no need for black stones - another, completely similar decoration is used as a resource.
After strengthening an item, you can return all or part of the spent stones to use them again. To do this, contact the NPC. However, when the point is removed, the item itself, along with all enhancements, disappears. Please remember that if your character dies, his equipment may lose one or more levels of enhancement.

Inlay

You will significantly enhance your equipment if you inlay gems into it, adding new characteristics to it. This opportunity opens when the Black Spirit takes on its second form, after the quest “Traces of Edan”.

• Inlay process

Inlaying stones will not cause you any difficulties. It is enough to find equipment that has required quantity empty slots, and a suitable stone (the type of equipment into which it can be inserted depends on the type of stone). After this, summon the Black Spirit (by default the “/” key) and click on the “Inlay” button.

Choose equipment with a free inlay slot and a suitable crystal. A confirmation window will appear in which you must confirm that you want to insert the stone into the equipment. After this, the crystal will immediately take its slot.

To delete gem from equipment, you need to place it in the inlay field and right-click on it. In this case, the crystal will be destroyed, but you can save it by using the appropriate service from the nearest blacksmith.

Important: Do not forget that upon death the crystal can be destroyed.

Transferring Buffs

In the game Black Desert, with the help of a blacksmith, you can partially or completely restore resources spent on improving equipment. This can be used to transfer the boost to more powerful equipment.

• Extracting black stones

Black stones are one of the most valuable resources in Black Desert, which is necessary for improving equipment. However, it may happen that you need to get them back to strengthen another item. To do this, contact the blacksmith, click the “Extract” button and select “Black Stone”. Next, a special window will open in which you need to place the improved equipment, and then click “Extract”.

Extraction of black stones has a number of features:
- all stones spent on improvement are subject to return if the level of enhancement is less or
equal to safe (+7 for weapons and +5 for armor);
- if an item is improved above a safe level, then you receive only part of the stones,
spent on strengthening;
- the object from which black stones are extracted is destroyed.

• Removing inlaid stones

When removing stones with the help of the Black Spirit, the stone is destroyed. To prevent this from happening, you can purchase the “Black Spirit Essence” item from the Premium Store and use the help of a blacksmith.

Contact the blacksmith, click the “Extraction” button and select “Inlay”. Insert the item from which you want to extract the stone and the essence of the black spirit (to do this, right-click on their icons in your inventory). Then click the “Retrieve” button so that the item of equipment and the extracted stone are in your possession.

PvP

A dispute that cannot be resolved by negotiation can always be resolved by battle! The reason for the battle does not matter: capturing a castle during a siege, conducting guild wars, fighting in the arena for honor and glory, or simply the need to teach a lesson to a player - only victory is important.
Once you reach level 30, you will be able to activate PvP mode, which will allow you to attack other players. The only exception is the holding of guild wars, in which all players participate, regardless of level.

• Activating PvP mode

To be able to attack players, press the key combination ‘Alt + C’ or click on the special icon located near the bottom of the screen. The icon will change its appearance, allowing you to determine whether you have PvP mode enabled. Also, during activation/deactivation of the mode, you will see a corresponding notification.

When a player attacks, a special icon (flag) will appear next to your last and first name, which shows other players your readiness for battle:

• Penalties in PvP

If in open world If you kill another player without PvP mode enabled, he will lose experience, and also, with a low degree of probability, inlay stones. You, in turn, will lose a certain amount of karma. With a negative karma value, you are assigned the “PK” status, which makes you a desirable target for other players, because if you die, you will suffer additional losses, which are described in the corresponding manual.

Attention: There are certain areas in Black Desert (for example, arenas) in which there are no penalties or negative karma for killing other players.

Fines upon death

The game world is full of dangers coming not only from monsters, but also from other heroes you meet along the way of adventure. Sometimes, if circumstances are stronger than you, then such encounters can result in death, which is fraught with certain penalties: loss of experience, destruction of inlay stones, reduction in the level of equipment enhancement, and much more.

It is worth remembering that most penalties are relevant only for the free world, and therefore in areas where death from other players is inevitable (for example, arenas or siege zones), penalties for death do not apply.

• Resurrection site

After death, you will be asked to choose a respawn location. If you do not do this within one minute, you will automatically respawn in the nearest city. There are several resurrection options:

Here and now
Immediate resurrection at the point of death with 20% HP. To use, you need a special item - “Ellian’s Tears”. It is worth considering that when using this option in dueling arenas, tears are not needed. In addition, this resurrection option cannot be used in siege zones.

Nearest city
Allows you to teleport to the nearest city you have visited. Please note that players with negative karma are not reborn directly in the city. Instead, they appear close to him.

Nearest node
Allows you to move to the nearest open node. If there are no explored nodes near the place of death, then this function will not be available to you, and you will be resurrected in the city.

Command post
The option is only available in the siege zone and allows you to move to your command post.

• Fines upon death

Losses due to the death of a character depend on the level of his karma, which decreases in the case of killing other players, horses, or while stealing items from NPCs.

• Losses

Depending on your karma, when you die, you may lose experience, inlay stones, and one or more levels of item enhancement. The lower the karma level, the greater the losses the player will suffer in case of death. It is important to take into account that it is impossible to simultaneously lose inlaid stones and the level of enhancement, but you always lose experience.

• Items falling out and breaking

Depending on how low your karma is, you may lose one or more untethered items if you die. However, you will have a chance to return the dropped items if you rush to the place of death and pick them up. You should be extremely careful with trade cargo: they fall out or are destroyed regardless of the value of karma. In addition, smuggled goods are always destroyed.

• Resurrection

Characters with low karma do not respawn directly in the city. Instead, they appear close to him.

• Guard

If you commit illegal actions, you must be prepared to be attacked by guards who guard large cities and settlements, and may also be encountered in border areas.

Arena

Arena- a place where players gather to fully enjoy the PvP component of the game, without fear of penalties in the form of loss of experience, reduction in strength and enhancement levels of items. You can find an arena under the walls of almost any large city. To start a battle, it is enough to come to an agreement with your opponent, and then enter the fenced area with him. Then you are free to do whatever you want!

Accrual of karma

Karma is one of the main characteristics of your character, which shows your attitude towards the inhabitants of the world of Black Desert. Your reputation will be tarnished if you kill peaceful heroes (who have not activated the PvP mode), wild and tamed horses, and also if you are caught stealing.

A player who attacks another player will receive a special status (flag), which indicates his readiness for battle. In this case, his character model will be colored red, and a special symbol in the form of crossed swords will appear next to his name.

Killing peaceful characters takes 60,000 karma units, but it is worth considering that this rule does not apply to self-defense, allowing you to fight back the offender even without turning on the PvP mode. Maximum value karma - 300,000 units, which is accumulated by destroying monsters.
