What's new at 9.17

Swedish branch of technology

The Swedish research tree is represented by two branches of vehicles: tank destroyers and a mixed branch.

Swedish tank destroyers have modest armor, so they rarely “light up” twice in the same place. Thanks to their excellent weapons and low silhouette, these vehicles are capable of painfully stinging the enemy and remaining undetected. At levels VIII-X of the Swedish research tree, players have access to tank destroyers capable of fighting in two modes. Siege mode allows you to concentrate on causing damage to enemy vehicles. Walking mode is necessary to change position.

Heavy, medium and light tanks are also available in the new research tree. Medium-tier vehicles have good gun depression angles and can perform various roles in battle. At the last levels the player has access to EMIL I, EMIL II and Kranvagn . Their guns have good declination angles and a magazine loading system.

Changes to premium equipment

Due to numerous requests from players, we have made changes to some premium vehicles. The characteristics of the FV 4202, STA -2, M 4A 1 Revalorisé, T 26E 4 Super Pershing, WZ -111, Löwe, Panther 8.8, T 34/T34 Black, M 46 Patton KR and 112 have been improved.

The changes also affected the heavy French tanks AMX 50 V and AMX 50 120.

Sounds

Some changes have been made to the game's sound settings: a corresponding option has been added for players who have 5.1/7.1 acoustics installed.
Added a sound notification when locking onto a target with auto-aim.

The option to turn on the microphone is now available in the settings in the “Sound” tab.

After analyzing player feedback during general test, we have postponed changes to the “two and three gauge rules”, as well as changes to the mechanics of ricochets, which were originally planned for version 9.17.

These changes would significantly affect one of the key game mechanic— calculation of armor penetration. Therefore, we decided to thoroughly review and reconfigure the current mechanics. This will take some time, but we want to make sure that our innovations are sufficiently justified and effective.

They must fit harmoniously into gameplay, improving it and increasing the comfort of the game. In the meantime, we are leaving the existing mechanics for all vehicles, including the new Swedish tank destroyers. More information is available in

Recently, a lot of useful information has appeared on the portal about upcoming changes in the research tree, balance, battles for Fortified Areas, changes in the damage panel and many other innovations. Germany Research Tree

To make Germany's research tree more competitive with other nations, we have made significant changes to its structure, and also added several completely new heavy tanks. We also made several balance changes to improve the gaming experience on medium and some premium machines.

IMPORTANT: two completely new ones will appear in the changed research tree for Germany heavy tank: VK100.01P (VIII level) and Mäuschen (IX level). If players have already researched the Maus heavy tank, they will be credited as researched.

Now, after researching the Tier IX tank VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B, another newcomer awaits players - Pz.Kpfw. VII. Its appearance will not in any way affect the experience earned on VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B, all experience earned will remain on this tank.

The equipment of the Maus tank will also not change: all equipment, camouflage, emblems and crew members will remain in their rightful places.
Japan and US research trees

In addition to the German research tree, update 9.17.1 also introduced a number of changes to Japanese heavy tanks and American tank destroyers X level. In the new version, players will probably notice that researching top Japanese heavy tanks has become a little easier and much more interesting. At the same time, the American tank destroyers T28, T28 Prototype and T95 will receive a well-deserved increase in speed.

Fortified areas

Fortified areas were created as a mass clan regime for a wide audience. However, over time, it became clear that leveling up the Stronghold above level 4 turned out to be overly demanding for most clans. In this regard, the “Battles for the Fortified Area” mode has been replaced with a new one called “Offensive”. In the new mode, you do not need to defend your Fortified Area every day, and in case of defeat, the clan will not lose anything.

The refusal to plunder in case of defeat and the mandatory defense of the Fortified Area led to significant changes in the economy of the regime. As a result, the Office, which at the moment is mainly used by the “top” clans that have earned their authority in battle, would become significantly more accessible more clans, which could lead to an imbalance in the economy of the game as a whole.

To replace the advantages of the Chancellery, a competition system is being introduced - “War Games”, where clans participating in sorties and offensives will be able to compete for prizes in several categories. Prize winners will be rewarded with gold, advanced reserves and other rewards. The launch schedule for new fortified areas will be published later.

Changes in vehicle characteristics

Based on feedback from the gaming community, we have made changes to the characteristics of two premium tanks, which will undoubtedly become profitable investment your capital: T-34-85M and FV4202. The changes also affected such vehicles as the T110E5, Grille 15, Centurion Mk and Centurion Mk. 7/1.

Simplified characteristics block

In update 9.17.1, the simplified characteristics block will display information about bonuses received when using equipment activated in battle. In addition, players will be able to see information about the type of projectile selected by default, as well as its characteristics in comparison with other projectiles.

Comparison of equipment

The changes also affected the equipment comparison block. In version 9.17.1, more indicators will be available for comparison: installed equipment, skills and abilities of crew members, equipment and camouflage.

Detailed damage panel

A detailed damage received panel has been added to the combat interface, which displays information about critical hits received, as well as the type of equipment and projectiles that were used to cause damage. The panel will also display ribbons with the amount of damage dealt, types of projectiles, critical damage, the name and type of equipment that caused damage to your vehicle. All this will provide more useful information and will give a chance to deliver a worthy rebuff to offenders. We have removed the simultaneous display of multiple feeds. Players can now customize the width of dynamic damage received indicators, which will depend on the amount of damage blocked or received. Together, these changes will allow players to understand the situation on the battlefield even better.

Platoon spawn system

The main purpose of platoons is to play together with friends. But in cases where the platoon members are scattered all over the map at the beginning of the battle, we can hardly talk about high-quality team play. In update 9.17.1 we fixed this and added effective logic that will allow platoon members to spawn in one place.

User Interface Improvements

We have improved the vehicle search block and added a search function by machine name. In the new update, players will be able to explore additional statistics directly in the Hangar on the vehicle panel, including Master badges, win percentage, and distinguishing marks earned on a specific vehicle. Finally, we've redesigned the personal and daily mission interface to make it quick and easy for players to get all the information they need about new and ongoing missions.

Sounds

In update 9.17.1 we are opening access to editing the game's sound files. Using third-party voiceovers or selected sound sets, you can hear exactly what you need in the game. Of course, this will be useful for modders and those who wanted to bring something of their own to the game.

Update 0.9.17.1 is approaching and drastic changes will affect several German development branches that are currently not relevant for players.

Branch changesMaus

Now the Maus tank branch will split into another TT-10 – Pz.Kpfw – will appear in the German top. VII, which will be a logical continuation of the Tiger (P) branch - VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A – VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B. Thus, sneakers will not leave the game, but will become an independent branch in the top with a vehicle that is similar in concept to previous tanks.

Pz.Kpfw. VII is the already well-known “lion slipper”, which was given to players for participating in battles on the Global Map. With entry into the German TT development branch, it will noticeably improve its characteristics: it will become much more effective in dealing damage and will acquire truly monolithic armor in the front of the hull. As for the pre-Maus branch, it will now look like this: Tiger (P) – new tank VK 100.01 (P) – Mäuschen – MAUS. The two hundred ton monster itself will also receive an upgrade that will allow it to fire and tank more effectively.

How Pz.Kpfw tanks. VII

At the moment, VK 72.01 is a Tier X super-heavy tank, which is awarded to players for impressive successes in battles on the Global Map. In terms of characteristics, the “lion slipper” is very similar to its pumpable brother, the E-100, but has a rear-mounted turret.

However, its speed significantly exceeds the E-100 - the “slipper” reaches 40 km/h. Among the disadvantages, the tank has rather weak side armor and a small ammunition load of 24 rounds.

The tank will change its name and become the crown new branch German TT. Now Pz.Kpfw. VII will also receive a small app. The base armor penetration will increase to 246 mm, the DMP and accuracy will slightly increase, the ammunition load will also increase to 35 shells. But the most important thing is that the “lion slipper” will receive much more impressive frontal armor, which will allow it to fight off all calibers in the game.

Before we talk about the E-100 in our game, let's dig a little into history. The project to create a super-heavy E-series tank appeared among German designers in the early 40s of the 20th century, when the country was already waging a war against the USSR and the countries of the Allied bloc.

German designers planned to create a super-armored tank that could carry huge ammunition for long-term confrontation with enemy tanks.

However, Germany was never able to bring the E-series to life due to the huge costs of fighting and simply due to lack of time. In 1945, Germany was completely defeated, and the Panzerkampfwagen E-100 remained only in the drawings.

In World of Tanks, the E-100 is located at level X and a small upgrade awaits it in update 0.9.17.1. In general, nothing fundamentally new will happen to the tank, only the base armor penetration of the 15 cm gun will increase. It was 235 mm, but will become 246 mm. This upgrade will allow the E-100 to use expensive cumulative projectiles much less frequently.

Maus in the sandbox

German designers were passionate about construction incredibly armored tank under the modest name Maus in 1942, when luck was still with the Wehrmacht forces.

The construction of the tank was undertaken by Ferdinard Porsche and by 1944 he had already presented Hitler with a couple of working options that had not yet received weapons. Hitler was forced to abandon further development, since the front required enormous funds.

In our game, Maus is located at Tier X and has the strongest armor among all TTs in the game. Of the poles, one can also note the largest margin of safety and good weapons.

The main disadvantage of the “mouse” has always been its very weak mobility, which makes the tank a tempting target for artillery.

In patch 0.9.17.1 Maus will receive the long-awaited upgrade. First of all, the DPM will increase significantly - if previously the basic reload of a gun reached almost 15 seconds, it will become less than 12 seconds, the accuracy and aiming time will also become much better. The stabilization of the gun will improve, but most importantly, the thickness of the frontal armor of the turret will become even thicker - 260 mm, whereas it was 240 mm. Now the “mouse” will take a hit much better and only the “gold” will be able to overcome the forehead of the tower.

Game on Panther II - 7 kills

As for the Panther II medium tank, the most important change in patch 0.9.17.1 will be the ability to install a fundamentally new gun, which will have the same average damage - 240 units, but with much better armor penetration - 223 mm. Also, the “panther” will be converted to HD, which will result in a change in its armor.

    Interface and other changes

    The following changes have been made to interface elements:

    • Combat Efficiency Ribbons:
      • Added the ability to display two or more ribbons for the same event in battle. For example, when damaging two vehicles with one shot (or damaging two different vehicles with different shots in a very short period of time), not one tape will be displayed with the amount of damage and the name of the vehicle (the last one to which the damage was dealt), but two different tapes with display of damage to each vehicle. This logic will be implemented for all combat effectiveness tapes.
      • If the enemy is destroyed, the player does not need to see a tape with the number of “crit” modules of the destroyed vehicle (after the “Destroyed” tape). In this case, the “Critical Hit” feed will be disabled.
      • Added a new “Fall Damage” tape (when inflicting terrain/physics damage on an enemy). This event will be displayed separately in the detailed damage log. This feed will also be added to the menu with the ability to customize the display.
    • Damage direction indicators:
      • The graphic materials of the damage direction indicators have been changed to relieve the load on the combat interface.
      • Added a setting that will allow you to turn on/off the display of a dynamic damage indicator (changing the width of the indicator depending on the amount of damage received/blocked). By default, the setting will be disabled; indicators of the same size will be displayed in battle.
      • Indicator timings have been changed and animation has been added.
    • Additional information has been added to the settings, explaining the principles of some feedback settings in combat.
    • Added information about taking damage or critical damage:
      • into ribbons;
      • in detailed log.
    • Damage or critical damage received from an ally will also be recorded in the feed and in a detailed log. The color of the ribbon and detailed log message will be the same for both damage received from an enemy and damage received from an ally (red for damage, orange for critical damage).
    • The projectile type has been added to the detailed log. Premium shells will be highlighted in gold. The player will not be able to optionally enable/disable the indication that the projectile was “golden” in the settings. The type of projectile is not added to ribbons and fire indicators. The projectile type is only displayed in detailed log messages for the following cases:
      • taking damage from a shot;
      • receiving critical damage;
      • receiving damage blocked by armor.
    • Updated detailed log settings:
      • Added an option to display the damage block: damage received, critical damage and damage blocked by armor.
      • Added a setting for moving the display of the damage block to a new location: displaying damage received, critical damage and damage blocked by armor to the right of the own team lists.
    • The fonts of all damage log feeds have been improved.
    • The fonts and backgrounds of detailed log messages have been improved.
    • The texts of the damage log settings window have been improved.
    • When all summary indicators of a detailed log are disabled, the log itself can be displayed to the player (in versions 9.16 and 9.17, when all three summary indicators were disabled, the detailed log was forced to be hidden).
    • When a vehicle is hit by rapid-fire guns, tapes and detailed log messages will display the total sum of the series of shots.
    • The mechanism for placing members of one platoon when loading a battle has been improved: teammates are placed on the map as close as possible based on the capabilities of the map and the number of platoons.

    "Fortified areas"

    • Battles for the Stronghold have been replaced with a new format called “Offensive”. This is still a series of battles in a “tug-of-war” format with three lines for defense, but with a number of significant differences:
      • There are no more looting of the Fortified Area; if a clan is defeated, it does not lose anything, and the winner’s earnings depend on the level of his own Fortified Area.
      • There is no longer any need to defend the Fortified Area 6 days a week. Battles in the mode are carried out only at will.
      • Battles in the mode start at a fixed time, the opponent for the attack is selected automatically from those available in the queue.
    • The refusal to plunder in case of defeat and the mandatory defense of the Fortified Area led to significant changes in the economy of the regime. As a result, the Office, which is currently mainly used by “top” clans that have earned their authority in battle, would become available to a significantly larger number of clans, which could lead to an imbalance in the economy of the game as a whole.
    • To replace the advantages of the Chancellery, a competition system is being introduced - “War Games”, where clans participating in sorties and offensives will be able to compete for prizes in several categories. Prize winners will be rewarded with gold, advanced reserves and other rewards.
    • IMPORTANT: War Games will start some time after update 9.17.1.
    • The battle room, both in sorties and in offensives, can be opened for legionnaires who can join your squad (as in team or company battles).
    • A list of open battle rooms will be available to everyone in a special interface.

    Sound improvements
